Returning from holiday and traveling from Essex to Stranraer we noticed a problem with the car. While stopping off at Chester-le-street we were directed to this garage. Very impressed by the helpfulness and professionalism of Syd. He left us to our hotel, prioritised the repair of the car and charged us a very reasonable amount for the job. I could net recommend this business more highly. Thank you for helping us out.
Always a pleasure going to this garage. Very kind and genuine family man in charge. Always honest with me. Gets quotes for my parts while I wait and tells me where he buys from so that I can check prices. So very fair. Not many garages do that. I had an issue with my exhaust and he sortedbit straight away. Highly reccommended garage!
Had my van in for a emergency repair today with nelson street garage, they pulled out all the stops to get me back on the road at a great price. Would reccomend highly. Sid is a great bloke to deal with and i will definitely return for my future work
I had problems with what I thought was a sticky EGR valve. advised by a different garage couple of months before when I had the same issue: loss of power, alarm lights on dashboard, computer pointed at EGR valve I thought it was weird and asked Nelson's to check the valve. He checked it, but it was clean he said. He did see that the fuel filter looked like it never had been cleaned and by changing this, problem was indeed solved! Price was really good as well!
I honestly dont know anyone who has really had a bad experience with sid and his garage, he is extremely busy for one reason. He is honest and doesnt rip anybody off, in 20 years of living all over UK in the Army he is the first mechanic i trust with my money. Been conned so many times, and in my experience he is just excellent. Mechanics have a rep for conning the fairer sex, not sid, my car only goes into his garage.
I've been using nelson street garage for a good few years now. Always happy with the quality of the work and the prices they charge are very reasonable. Would recomend.

Great garage, very friendly and helpful they did the MOT on my BMW. I will definitely be taking the car back for any further work needed in the future.
