Nelly Duff

About

East London's original urban art gallery, Nelly Duff has been at the forefront of London's street art and print scene since it's establishment in 2006.

Story

Nelly Duff exhibits editions and original pieces from artists at the forefront of the Street, Tattoo and Graphic art world, including international artists from Barcelona to Baltimore. Central to the successes of the gallery and the artists it represents is the strong development relationship between the two, who each continually strive to innovate via unique shows and special edition releases.

The gallery champions the development of high quality hand-made editions; supporting traditional craft and age-old techniques. Nelly Duff was one of the first physical spaces to exhibit Street Art internationally, and their editions are coveted by museums and private collectors across the globe.

Nelly Duff currently holds the world record for the highest number of screens used to produce a hand pulled screen-printed edition, with Ben Eine. The artist’s ‘Twenty First Century’ canvas was gifted to President Obama, by David Cameron, during a state visit in 2010.

In March 2012, Nelly Duff was invited to be a main exhibitor at the prestigious ‘Pick Me Up Art Fair’, Somerset House. Here Nelly Duff presented a group show entitled ‘Zoo’, observing animals and their enclosures. Some 30,000 people attended the exhibition. Furthermore, in April 2012 Nelly Duff was invited by the Victoria & Albert Museum to take part in ‘Street Art, Tripoli.’ In partnership with the British Council, this was the first international exhibition to visit post revolutionary Libya.

In June 2012, Nelly Duff curated an installation of 10 old bangers, during which a derelict & flooded subterranean council estate Car Park became home to an experimental project in self-initiated regeneration- this critically acclaimed exhibition saw Nelly Duff challenge some of the world’s most provocative social muralists to up-cycle!

April 2013 saw Nelly Duff present the debut UK exhibition of Baltimore born Social Muralist, Gaia. The exhibition was set in a local estate public house- a forgotten relic of the failures of social housing. In Summer 2013, Nelly Duff displayed a series of original paintings by the BP Portrait price nominated Matt Small entitled ‘The Radiant Ones’ in the heart of Hoxton.

Most recently in September 2013, Nelly Duff’s ‘Tenderloin A-Z’ showcase documented the creation of EINE's ground breaking 54 colour screen-printed edition, alongside the launch of Dr. Rafael Schacter’s ‘World Atlas of Street Art and Graffiti.’

Nelly Duff is regularly invited to contribute to lectures at the University of the Arts, London.
Such achievements confirm Nelly Duff as a leader of the emerging arts.

Stunning pieces. I would buy art here if I had money! Love, love, love popping in here. There's so much personality in the pieces they have. Some galleries have an unwelcoming intimidating vibe, but this one is so wonderful and I highly recommend checking it out if you're going to the Sunday flower market or you're in the area.
I love this gallery and the artists they represent. Prices are quite reasonable so I treated myself to a couple of limited edition prints for my birthday. The staff are very friendly and shared interesting details about the artists. When I heard about the artistic process for one of the prints I purchased I wanted it even more. I will definitely be going back for more.
Popped into the gallery after Columbia Road Sunday market and spent £1500 on 3 prints, only to be treated like I was trying to pocket them! All I wondered was why the frame cost more than the art itself and why there were price differences amongst similar frames. Love the pieces, but was hoping for a friendlier experience! Their loss, I will never pop in again !!
Have bought several pieces from Nelly Duff since moving to east London, once online but otherwise in store. Love the range of artists they stock and the fact that they cater to a range of budgets. Some of the framing might seem pricey, but having had our first piece independently framed, I can tell you it's a competative rate. They also offer framing options I haven't seen elsewhere, that really compliment the artwork. The shop can get a little crowded it's a very small space and we did have to wait quite a while to be served on our latest visit, but this was made up for with excellent service and a freebie for our repeat custom - thank you so much once again for this!
If your going to the Colombia Road Flower Market on a Sunday, you really should stop in and take a gander of some of the work offered by some very talented artists. Make sure to go up the stairs on the right as art is hung in the staircase as well as in two more rooms. Also, grab a decal and a card from the gallery as pictured either for your collection or to pass along. The crew was busy when I stopped in but it was obvious they wanted to be of any help they could and had the most beautiful smiles. I would check I there website to view the works available, as I believe they ship just about every where.
Came across this gallery while venturing through the flower market and I am so happy I did. My eyes were immediately drawn towards two pieces. The staff were incredibly helpful and sweet. They made sure to package my items very carefully as they knew I had to travel back to the states.
A fantastic little art gallery focusing on urban and street art amongst others. Lovely, accommodating staff who are happy for you to browse. Prices start from less than £50, with some fantastic artists represented.
Always have a great selection of artworks. Helpful, friendly staff and in a lovely location. Especially with the flower market on Sundays.
Do you need art? Of course you do. Go here. The artist has imagined, worked, created, and Nelly Duff has curated; now it's up to you to take something home to love and live with.
Very poor experience. I paid for a picture online. They then sold it because they forgot to reserve it. But took me chasing to get an update. They then kindly offered to re-frame an alternative one. But didn't confirm the details of the frame e.g. exact colour, mount and just sent it to me... the communication in the whole process is not what I expect for this type of business.
