I’ve been using Natural Instinct for my dog for years as he’s a very fussy eater but loves Natural Instinct. But looking at the reviews we are all having exactly the same issues. Food great packaging terrible & not fit for purpose. I did contact customer services who seemed hell bent on blaming DPD but as I tried to explain to them I deal with distribution & the brittle boxes the meat is in, wrapped in, polystyrene that is only meant to keep it cold & a one skin cardboard box is not adequate to stop it from being damaged in transit. Once it starts to thaw the blood ends up draining from the food leaving it dry & I’m having to add water & remove bits of broken packaging. While they offered to refund they didn’t appear to want to confront the issue of their packaging. & if they don’t I’ll need to look for alternatives which is a shame.
I have bought from Natural Instinct for many years and have been very happy with their products over the years, HOWEVER, recently, due to a change in PACKAGING, that's when it goes downhill. I buy my 1kg raw food tubs from a local vets. In the last few months, we have noticed that the tubs are very fragile, flimsy and prone to cracking and splitting. In some cases, on opening the tubs I have found small particals of plastic within the raw meat! See photos. My supplier told me that they received them that way and they have emailed them as I have. Both of us received no reply. I have messaged them via their Facebook page too. I'm giving them constructive customer feedback asking if this issue is due to either their packaging, their packaging process...ie filling and labeling etc OR their courier? Whichever it is, or it could be a combination of all, it needs to be further investigated! The tubs before we're more robust and also recyclable. I can only think the change in packaging has been a result of making cutbacks....but at the COST of becoming a harmful product. I shouldn't need to dig about the raw food in case a sharp piece of plastic has broken off a damaged tub. I also shouldn't have to remove every cardboard sleeve to check if a tub is damaged before purchasing. I've come across countless ones in the freezer section. Some slip through as only minimal damage is seen see attached photos such as a chip in the lid. When thawed out and on opening, I've discovered far more damage PLUS the nutritional juices have leaked out! See photos attached. Come on Natural Instinct! Please reply or acknowledge there's a problem here! An automated "we'll get back to you" message is not sufficient! As I have said, your product is good, the PACKAGING is NOT!
HORRIBLE packaging! Dangerous for our German Shepherd as have been finding bits of plastic in food for a long time now. Have been using them for a long time but have now switched to another brand. Also, they do not appreciate or reward customer loyalty. They only care about making a profit at the dogs ' expense
Like previous reviews I also confirm the terrible flimsy and dangerous new packaging and food have now a funny smell. Even my dog changed he's behaviour and not very keen in eating it. Definitely changing to a different brand
Lots of smashed plastic, I wonder how many people have accidentally fed them to their dogs. Contacted Natural Instinct and was told that new packaging has been introduced, this is AFTER the new packaging. Please fix it, it’s been happening for ages!
Come on NI sort your packaging’s out, been with you for years and our dogs love the food and look good on it but with this new packaging I can’t be sure if I am feeding my dogs bits of plastic, if this continues I will be going elsewhere
Can't speak high enough of this company. I have just received my 2nd delivery and both deliveries were well communicated and well packed for cold transit. Customer services are fantastic should you have any questions. I received helpful advice on feeding my puppy the correct amounts with an online calculator so you can closely monitor your puppies meals as they grow. Lovely quality product and a very happy and healthy pup!
Parking available. Often get a cardboard box to help carry the food. Been getting working dog food from here for over 5 years and my dog loves it. Changing him to raw food was the best decision and he's been happier & healthier for it. Got their frozen sprats too & they're his favourite treat
Absolutely outstanding quality food, customer service, delivery and price. My orders are normally delivered within 2 days of ordering, very well packaged and food still frozen. The food is high in meat content and of great quality, a lot of choice too on the website, including treats like chicken carcass or small fresh fish. The pricing is great, haven't found any other company that comes close to the value for money.
I would give minus if I could. Dangerous company, dangerous food. I lost 2 cats due to their negligence and food contaminated with tuberculosis bacteria. They never admit to this, they done only standard recall but it was too late anyway. One cat died in 2018 and second one on 2023 after tuberculosis being dormant for 5 years. If you love your pets stay away from them.
