EXCEPTIONAL!! I would absolutely suggest visiting the cliffs and doing the full hike to get the most out of the experience. The full hike is about 50 minutes but with the gorgeous view, time passes too quickly. There is however no provision made to throw away trash while hiking so I would recommend taking a water bottle that isn’t uncomfortable to walk with. The hike can be quite steep at some spots and when going down to the hidden beach the walk is quite taxing and the ladder to the bottom goes down at a sharp angle. I would recommend wearing shows with good grip. At the beginning of the trail there is a little coffee shop with a pop-up bookstore and little souvenir section which I would recommend walking through. The scones from the coffee shop were delicious. There are no words to describe the beauty of the are! This was a fantastic experience for me and I would absolutely recommend this experience.
This is a truly beautiful place to visit with fantastic walks, views and scenery. On clear days you can see over the channel to France, as well as the famous white cliffs of Dover. Plenty of paths to walk and wildlife to see, and the small cafes have a fairly good selection of food and drinks without being too expensive.
This is a must do activity! We visited the White Cliffs of Dover in September. The weather was spectacular. We could see France across the English Channel. I even got an alert from my operator welcoming me to France! The trek from the parking lot to the lighthouse is fairly easy with clearly marked path.
Stunning views. This is a medium hike if you take the cliff side, not buggy friendly, don't let you children run about the edges are not guarded. Paved path to lighthouse and castle great for bikes and strollers. Wear good sturdy hiking shoes and mind your step.
Beautiful place with a nice beach and a landscape. Which needa few hours to explore. Corner of the cliff is in France timezone and mobile signal coming from the France. Which is roaming. Wont be able to make calls after walking halfway way through the cliff unless roaming activated. At the daytime can see France in the other side of the see and the evening lights from France are visible. Part of the beach contains black sand. Really nice place hope to visit once more.
Totally worth the trek. And speaking about the trek, it's not difficult at all if you go by car. The steepest part of the trek is the initial one. You can avoid it if you take your car. Walking is also completely manageable. Amazing view of Dover Port and English Channel below. Many rabbits, ponies and sea gulls on the way. Good directions and well maintained tracks throughout. Toilet facilities also available.
The White Cliffs of Dover are worth seeing and I’m glad I went but I must say that I was a little disappointed. The problem is simply that the view you get from land, i.e. walking on the hills approaching the cliffs, is too side-on whereas the view from the sea in a boat like a ferry for example is more front-on and therefore you can see the cliffs in all their glory. The problem, of course, with being on a boat is that you can’t walk around the cliff area so, at the end of the day, while the side-on view is not the best view, it still makes for a worthwhile experience - just thought I’d let you know so that you’ll be prepared for a less pretty view than we all see on those lovely White Cliffs of Dover postcards.
Great national trust location. Very good connection with Dover Priory Station and a 30 mins walk off to the Cliffs. The White Cliffs of Dover are truly beautiful with some breathtaking views over the English Channel, the Poet and the city of Dover. Great hiking experience! I’d highly recommend it
Nice first experience, but apart from jacket potatoes they had nothing to serve just after midday when we got there. Being such a busy place, visited by many, i scored 4* as I think they can plan better. All together a nice place to relax with a lovely view.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
I loved the view, the day we went it was a bit foggy which added something extra. Great place. Very clean. Nice to wander freely. Do allow yourself some time so you can make it completely till the lighthouse!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
