Just love this little gem of a mill. Such a wonderful roof which weighs an impressive 300 ton. Such character. Great guides so knowledgeable and friendly. It is thought to have existed since 1391! There are two wheels here which are not that easy to see. There is a small tunnel like structure which you can go around which our children loved. The mill had been restored by the National Trust between 2008 ~ 2012. Would highly recommend a visit!
The mill is connected to a good footpath and minor road network so an interesting place to visit on a circular walk from Alderley Edge
08/08/2021 Finally got around to visiting this mill with my sister first time here for both of us So glad it opened up again to the public today well worth a visit if you haven't been yet You don't need to be a National Trust member to visit either The 2 guides who did the tour was brilliant I honestly don't know how they can remember all the history of it as I know I couldn't remember it Sorry I feel rude now as I never asked my guides names as I was to busy taking pictures but I did hear every word they said during the 1 hour tour The tour lasted a hour to my surprise considering there new opening post for August 2021 on there site said there were half hour slots on there first opening since lockdown 2020 I'm not complaining as it was well worth the visit & I got my money worth being an N T member You can pay by cash or card if your not a national trust member Free parking to the front of the building there were disabled car park spaces also our front of the building But you can park outside of & in the grounds of St Mary's Church or the neither village Hall for free The Mill is a very interesting building & both guides have full & up to date information On our tour while with our guides It's actually bigger than it looks on the inside than the outside There a moat at the back of the mill that can be seen if you up the stairs inside the mill I'm forever looking for stone Mason Mark's or Mark's with dates engraved on any brick work or wood work inside or outside of any place I visit or on any window panes Please take a visit & see for yourselves
Fascinating little building, which it's still an operational flour mill. If you can make it during the limited opening times, the guided tour is packed full of information & demonstrations to give you a real feel for the history of this local treasure.
Literally nothing there! Turned up on bank holiday Monday expecting a usual National Trust experience - it must be closed as there was nothing there. So we left disappointed.
Nice place with lots of history
Amazing for photo shoots!
Beautiful place one must see
Interesting place to explore
Make sure it’s open !
