A house that seemed to just creep out if the wilderness to reveal an amazing and stunning view of history. It had apparently been a part of some movies and its volunteers took care of its grounds to perfection. At £8 per adult it is a worthy purchase my only reason for not giving it a 5* is that I wish it would have a place to buy drinks to help contribute to the upkeep of the house itself and chip in something to the volunteers. Overall it is amazing.
Stunningly beautiful Elizabeth and house with wonderful cottage gardens. Very peaceful wondering round both the house and gardens. Expert guides in every room with a wealth of knowledge made the tour of this beautiful house very interesting. Can throughly recommend. Please note that if you do visit there are toilet facilities available but no provision for drinks or food. Enjoy!!
Hall not for all. If you want a fast super impression is not for you. It's a family house, and you need time to understand the historic significance of it. Nicely preserved hall, and a really old late medieval church. There are not a lot of restorations but you feel that the place is old. If you visit local attractions just add it to your bucket list. A summer time visit is the best due to a nice garden and local walk. The iron bridge is nearby to continue the discovery. Opens after midday, good sleep in a morning no rush to visit and have a tranquil rural walk
Great country house near Ironbridge. Gardens are very impressive, with a range of wild to cultured spaces. Love the Union Jack done in the lawn! Great Ukraine motif in the orchard and kitchen gardens. Very informative and friendly guides. Only National Trust place I have been to though with no tea room!
A really interesting estate in the family for hundreds of years. Beautiful roses still blooming in September, but note well - there's no cafe!
Lovely place to wander around for a few hours. The gardens are small but very pretty.
First visit had a great time very friendly knowledgeable staff and the house and gardens were amazing and on a lovely sunny day was just a bonus thank you.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Disclaimer: I am a National Trust member and usually absolutely love these types of visit. I was a bit disappointed today. The hall has a later opening time than most other places and not, I believe, anything to do with covid. Between 1 and 3 it is guided tours only these were booked up when we arrived so we wandered into the Church and around the kitchen garden which was suffering and seemed a bit neglected but the flowers and apple trees were lovely. The front lawned area was nice and well kept and offered a bit of tranquility. There are no refreshment facilities and we were a bit parched due to the hot weather and the wait to go into the house so that was a bit of a disappointment. The visitor kiosk in the car park sells plants and skipping ropes. The hall itself has very little information but the room guides seemed friendly and were always chatting with visitors. Not a lot of the hall is open to visitors and you see a tiny proportion, 3 downstairs rooms and 2 upstairs. It had the feeling like someone was still living there. This is not a new acquisition so I do wonder why it was below the usually really high standard of National Trust properties. I imagine I may have had a slightly different view had I been able to access a tour and perhaps a drink!
Lovely setting, beautiful buildings, staff friendly and knowledgeable. House interior is interesting lovely pieces. Lovely gardens well kept. RecommendVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Small property that is mostly closed during the winter months. Easy parking but be aware of the MASSIVE potholes on the approach. Good for a walk around the parkland or browsing the second hand book shop.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
