The national squash centre is located on the Etihad Campus Sport City, which is famously on the same site as Manchester City's Etihad Stadium. For those that are interested in contemporary history; the campus was built to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games and now provides a legacy for English sports. Many are headquartered on the site. . The gem in the squash centre's crown is its permanent full glass show court, which includes tiered seating and 360 viewing. The court is a real treat for squash fans as it provides the best viewing experience in the north west. . Having visited the centre on several occasions for junior squash tournaments, it's worth pointing out that the centre has a bit of a different feel to your typical squash club. It's very well suited to large events where you play multiple matches at the same time. Surrounding the show court, there are six additional 'standard' courts that include a single glass frontage. This, again, provides a good viewing experience for spectators and parents!. The venue also benefits from a great deal of space to access the courts so it's perfect for those with restricted accessibility. . With the exception of the glass show court, all the standard courts are constructed using fabricated walls that can be removed from the venue to create different spaces. These courts do take a little getting used to as the ball makes a different sound when struck against them. . The changing facilities and WC facilities are modern and spacious and are some of the best squash club facilities in the local area. . A great facility to have in Manchester and always enjoyable to visit.
My 7yr old attended a Virtual Squash Party. It was brilliant. Kids had a fantastic time. Played so many many arcade games but the kids were the ones throwing the balls, eg Space Invaders. As Aliens came down kids threw the ball at the screen as if they were the battleship missiles. It was a great event and a good way for active kids to release energy There is a big indoor running track and things you can do. Friendly and helpful staff.
Good entertainment during a day. First time went to this place and we just beginning our adventure with a squash nice glass courts. Not to busy very friendly staff working here you can rent a ball and rackets from reception. Clean place. Also Cafe shop here and spectacles area. Good parking small but OK very close to entrance huge sculpture on front of the building. Really recommend to others just come and play 45min for 9.50£ we book in advance.
I ran the Manchester Open Graded squash tournament at the NSC on the weekend just gone and was blown away by how great the facilities were and how friendly and accommodating the staff were! They opened earlier than usual to allow us to get set up and were fantastic all day, even extending the opening hours of the bar to allow players watching the finals at the end to enjoy a drink whilst they did so! A true credit to squash and I only wish I lived in Manchester!! Keep up the great work guys!!
Love the squash centre, it's clean, good temperature, nice staff and good facilities. Downsides, showers aren't currently open due to covid but even when they are it's open showers, put some dividers up at least please for a bit of privacy. New feature which is awesome! Projector and cameras has been added to one of the courts, you can book that court and play games against the wall e.g. Something that looked like space invaders, you hit the ball at the spaceships and they would be "shot down" great fun and a clever idea to help people practice on their own
Very large running track allows for a good cardio workout Holiday events are nice
6 glass back courts and 1 all glass showcase court parking a bit limited, entrance tucked away gate 13! 2nd right after the main entrance to stadium
Normally the full glass show court is great, but it needs a good service now. There were plenty of dead spots on the front wall and it made for unsatisfactory and unpredictable play. Someone needs to go round with a spanner and tighten everything up!
Superb facilities it can get really busy so make sure you book in advance
Been playing squash here for quite a few years now. The prices have increased quite a bit recently but the courts are great and there are plenty of them.
