Had a great time on the ice. For children doing the the first time i think the seal is the best aid as they can sit on it. Dependent on how tall your child is snowman is next best because it is heavy and hard to push over. Then the humble penguin as this one is the lightest. Nice cafe right next to the ice too.

An excellent place to enjoy ice skating in all its forms on a full Olympic size rink (the 'public' and the 'arena' ice pads are both full size Olympic rinks). Totter around in public skating sessions. Learn to skate with excellent qualified coaches in 30 minute Skate UK courses. When you have achieved the required levels in Skate UK, learn to Speed Skate, or learn to play ice hockey, or join the successful Synchronized Skating Academy, or the Figure Skating Academy. Since my son started on Skate UK at 5, we almost live at the rink. Go along and get into the most rewarding and skillful sports there are. Ice skating needs you and the National Ice Centre is a great place to learn.

Brilliant value for money and great fun. Took three children and we all hired skates, could have stayed all afternoon (5 hour session) and cost under £30. Children loved it, skates were clean, ice aids were good and only £2.50 to rent for the session and all in all, a great day out, if not exhausting for mummy! 🙌🏻

Great place for a little skate, went to the casual skate over Christmas holidays, cheaper for longer than the outdoor one set up in market square and bigger! Lovely spot for skating.

Only £5 for students. Family is recommended to go to Friday family time. Anyone who can skate well can go on the Friday club session. But weekday session is only 2 hours which is a letdown. Anyone who is free on weekend can go on Saturday as the session is twice longer
