AVOID!!! The display looks great with a variety of ice cream but don’t be deceived by the display!! The service was the terrible!! We went in a group of 3 families with 2 children each and were flexible to have a group table or individual tables for each family whichever that was convenient. It was tea time around 5pm and the place was very quiet with a lot of empty tables. The adults wanted to have coffee with dessert and kids wanted a drink with ice cream but the man told us that he doesn’t serve children and we were not allowed to be seated in that cafe. He told us to do takeaway. Since he was rude and unwelcoming, we walked away. Pointless to argue for discrimination against children. I’ll NEVER recommend this cafe. I’m sorry to say that this was the worst service I’ve encountered in my life being travelled all over the world despite this town being so beautiful and people were extremely polite and courteous.
Great atmosphere and delicious food, ice cream heavenly
We are slowly but surely visiting all the Nardini restaurants. Having been introduced to the Largs one, we now visit St Andrews. Excellent service. Good Americano and super goats cheese toasted foccacia followed by a double scoop cornet with chocolate sauce fill, of rum and raisin and tablet fudge. Yummy. Parking an 8 metre camper on the high street was interesting, and we got to see the golf club.
Such delicious ice cream... best coffee ice cream I've ever tasted, the salted caramel was also really nice!!! All the flavours are delicious to be honest! Customer service was impeccable!!! Very friendly and welcoming staff. I ordered something that WASN'T on the menu and they made it for me!!!!! It was absolutely delicious!!! Thank you soo much for putting a smile on our faces!!
Should be avoided! My husband went there for a coffee yesterday and he was told an americano was £2.90. He found it weak as they obviously don't grab the concept of an americano thus they offered a further shot. He also asked for cream rather than milk on the side. He was then presented with a bill for £4.35 as despite the weak coffee, they charged him 50p for another shot and to add further insult, the cream was charged at 95p!!! So, for a semi-decent cup of coffee remember he was not at St Andrews OLD COURSE HOTEL but the local cafe/restaurant you must pay £4.35. These people disgust me. I called them to confirm their price and the owner said, well we have to pay for cream! Do NOT support this place as their ethos is an exploitative business strategy. Needless to say, my husband refused to pay for the cream. That coffee certainly left a bad taste in his mouth.
The woman serving us hurried us through our coffees interrupting 3 times. The young guy who showed us to our seats was however pleasant and laid back. I would not go back here due to the seemily rude service? The coffee was pretty weak as well. There are better places in St.Andrews.
Really nice place to chill and have a coffe or a fresh Ice Cream, staff is really polite and majority of them are Italian which make the place even better, I love the way they show the kitchen so you can see how they cook. Everything was really good, I'll go back to enjoy another Ice Cream or maybe lunch there.
Pathetic is the best way to describe the attitude of the rotund waiter. Wouldn't let a family of 6 in for ice cream and coffee as it was lunchtime...at 3pm?? Then immediately after let 4 people in for coffee. It's a cafe, used to have a good name as well but don't understand the attitude of picking and choosing your customers when the place is half empty. Are finances really that good..?
They are downright abusive to their staff, one of whom told us that they don't receive any of their tips. Their attitude towards customers is money-grabbing rather than hospitable; they will charge an extra £2 for an empty plate so that you can 'share' a sandwich, which is so dishonest! They will not let take-away customers use the toilet, even though you pay exactly the same price for a coffee that you take away. There is something seriously wrong with these people and I would not recommend anyone support such a disreputable business.
So sad - not the nardini's i know and love. Went to treat my girls and was told no more ice cream sundae style. Only scoops in a glass. Took about 20 mins even to get that. Not family friendly in the slightest. Families avoid - would be better heading down the street a bit.
