Oh dear. A pub with a lot of history and even more potential. Ruined. The landlord is very very rude. Went in summer with 2 moderately aged kids, one 8 years old the other 6 years old, for a nice drink. Only to be told that neither could play on the play equipment because they were "over aged" - they needed to be under 4 years old. Nowhere did it say that only under fours were allowed to go on it. Inside, the atmosphere is very bland. Very sooty, dark and stingy. Not a good family pun at all! The drinks were alright but the lemonade was a bit flat and the wine wasn't as good as elsewhere. Overall, needs a fair bit of improvement.

Bar itself is great, especially for sport but the happy hardcore at 8:30 in the evening was a bit much

This place has been taken over and refurbished. New staff who lack experience and the wine was so poor we left 1/2 the bottle we had purchased.
