Story

Murray Snell LLP, a Scottish legal practice formed in 2008 by merger of the well established and highly regarded Firms of Murrays WS and Snell & Co WS. A legal practice based in Edinburgh with clients throughout the UK and in expatriate communities beyond.

We act for a diverse community of clients all of whom value our approach and the legal skills we have to offer. These clients are based both within the UK and in the wider expatriate community throughout the World. We have a particular interest in the Arts and act for a number of related Trusts as well as for many individual artists and musicians.

We are a family friendly Firm who recognise the great strengths and resources that highly knowledgeable and experienced members of staff can bring to the running of our business and service to our clients.

We are a close and tight knit working group who share and exchange views on matters affecting a client to ensure that every avenue is explored. This collegiate approach is at the heart of the way we work. We recognise the importance of availability and speed of response.

The Firm has a number of recognised specialities such as
•Property Law which includes residential and commercial property, agriculture, estates, crofting, forestry and renewables;
•Private Client which includes Wills and Executries;
•Commercial Law which covers a diverse range of matters from company law and partnership deeds through to employment problems and business acquisition and disposal.


We do recognise that we can’t be specialists in everything so if we don’t have the right skill to do a specific job, we will know someone who does. We regularly liaise with other legal practices throughout the UK and beyond to ensure our clients are represented by the right people.

Our office is in the heart of Edinburgh just off George Street which looks up to Edinburgh Castle. Although we usually see clients there, meetings are regularly set up either at a client’s home or business premises whichever is the most convenient.
