Had 2 orders of the same thing and a cappucino after visiting the portrait museum and national gallery: the smell of the fresh food as we were about to exit called out to us and we were glad to have dined here! Salmon is too dry and overcooked but salads were balanced in flavour and lovely. Of course expensive at 16 pounds each plate.
Took a break here after seeing all the wonderful artwork in National Gallery. The honey glazed chicken and salad were delicious and the scone with flat white were delightful!Food: 5/5
Stopped by to have some tea/ hot chocolate. This place is relaxing to sit after seeing some artworks. I didn’t eat anything here as I was too full after lunch but the cakes and the hot food looked nice but quite expensive. The restrooms are ultra clean. The seating area is spaced out and the seats comfortable. It’s ok here…. Not too bad.
Food is of high quality and healthy and vegetarian options are available. If you take the mixed salads they will allow you to substitute if there is a salad you don’t like. They are all fabulous but the broccoli and Chinese peas need more blanching. They are very tough. The cakes and pies look good but have only average taste. The pecan pie sits on an industrial base. The prices are very expensive for a self service. You could cross the street and have a served meal for the same price. Tables are tiny and there is no room for bags. Easiest access is through the handicap access but you need a ticket to do so if not handicapped.
Positives: Convenient location and nice seating. There were some Vegan options though only flapjack in sweets which isn't a given. Negatives: staff were barely responsive. Absolutely ludicrously priced. I had thought the displayed bowl of salad was one portion. When I asked for two of them the unresponsive staff member got out a set of scales and weighed a few tablespoons into two tiny bowls. Nearly £8 each and barely big enough to be a side portion. Smothered in oil. I am usually oil free the amount of oil in my mouth made me ill. Ordered an Oatmilk latte to go with it. Positive: they use Oatly not Alpro which is horrible. The coffee itself was one of the nicest I've had. Smooth, mellow, non-bitter, slightly sweet. Negative: served, I kid you not, in a tiny water glass on a tiny saucer. For a latte for nearly £4?? It was barely two sips. Would never go back. Vegetarian options: Some Vegan options
The food is excellent. I liked the interior. It is quite expensive but you tell yourself it is to support the National Gallery so you bite the bullet. I did notice that some of the staff not everyone had a poor attitude I read other similar comments , which is not acceptable in any circumstances and even less so when you pay a lot of money.
Food was nice but prices are expensive. £3 for a latte that's about 1/2 the size you get in other coffee shops, and the NY Cheesecake was £6.20! It was also really busy when we visited after lunch so it was difficult to find a place to sit and eat. Don't think I will be visiting again.Food: 5/5
Reasonably priced especially the scone as the price included the jam and cream, a bit crowded as the seating are closely placed but is still acceptableFood: 5/5
Delicious food but terrible coffee. It’s expensive per cup and should match the food offering. Hence only 3 stars. Staff remade my coffee twice but it was still acrid. I drink strong coffee every day but this is not up to standard. Staff didn’t seem able to detect the poor flavour.Food: 3/5
Much nicer + lighter space than the espresso bar, also washable cups available here only takeaway at espresso bar, even if eating in
