I was pleasantly surprised by the nicely curated paths around the Mundy playing fields. I've been here for firework celebrations before but never really wandered around. Starting from the Castle court car park I found a nice small field to walk the dogs and several small foot bridges that took me across the steam and allowed me to walk around the edge of the Mundy playing fields. Dogs need to be kept on a lead when walking on the playing fields but there are some paths around the edge where dogs can be off lead. Very pleasantly surprised about the green space that has been created.
Not a disability friendly park at all! If arriving by car you need to navigate stoney, muddy side path/car spaces or go over the speed bumps in the road! Once you've done that you then get to limbo under the barriers in your wheelchair, with someone helping to ensure you don't bump your head. Once in the park there is one path that leads you out the otherside of the park to the High Street. You can't go over the sodden grass and damage it for children playing etc, but a path to go view the stream or go around the park perimeter etc would be most welcome. I had been told about this park so many times, it would have been nice to see more of it like the able bodied can. A very disappointing first experience :-
Easily accessible from several directions if your walking or driving. The main car park is at the far side of the park, so not always easy to find if you don't know the area. There are many things going on here from football matches to park run. The park itself is clean and tidy and well maintained. Playground: Decent enough. Can get busy when the weather is good. Dog-friendliness: Loads of wide open space for dogs to run around. Dog waste bins easy to find.
Great park with equipment for all ages and a little splash pad which was closed for maintenance when we visited at the end of August. There's a little stream in a little valley, running quite dry after a long hot summer. Note that it's a big space with interesting equipment spread over quite a large area, so difficult to keep an eye on children running in different directions.
Went here to play at Thornbury Tennis Club. Plenty of parking but make sure that you don't park on the wrong side of the barrier too late in the evening or you will find your car locked in until the morning! Hard courts and can be quite windy here. Pleasant setting and large clubhouse. The playing fields are a great place to bring kids.
The Mundy playing fields are a great place to walk the dog, exercise the kids and have a picnic. Beautiful spot with other activities such as a tennis club and exercise groups that meet regularly. Well worth a visit.
Love it here, loads of good quality equipment, tonnes of green space, lovely stream. Picnic tables and additional benches, litter bins, very pretty setting. Toilets available when they're open not always
Good park for children of different age groups.
Great Park for all the family. Shame about the 'timed' water splash feature which seems to go on and off randomly, confusing children and parents alike!
Really lovely park and would highly recommend. I have given 4 stars due to the parking. Friends and I found it difficult to find the car park and sat nav does not take you to this point. Signposting is also very limited. Once you're parked up, it's great!
