Excellent excellent hotel for the money! Every single person who works there is friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet is wonderfull, lots of variety, including the usual cooked offerings, but also plenty of fresh fruit and yogurt and whole-grain bread and some gluten-free options. The all day menu is terrific as well. Very comfortable bar and lounge area. Plenty of room to spread out and work during the day if you don’t mind the low-key funky sound track, which I quite liked and helped me to stay focused, and there are a couple of private rooms that you can book if you need a little privacy for zoom meetings, etc. nice fitness area, although it’s small enough that it would feel cramped if more than two or three people were working out at the same time. The hotel is very centrally located, walkable to everything in the city center. The rooms are funky and comfortable. I won’t stay anywhere else when I’m in Plymouth!
The good bit first - yes I would stay there again. But...this is a Marriott hotel, but one that is clearly trying far too hard for a young cool vibe. The styling looks a like bunch of corporate suits stole twenty ideas from actual cool hotels and then chucked them all together - it has no theme or structure - quite comically sad. The staff look and have like they are in a Marriott not a cool hotel - which of course they are. At least it's not boring! Rooms are well sized and maintained, breakfast is average+, queues at hot drinks machines as not enough of them and they are unreliable.nA useful reminder of how bland big hotel chains are, and how great independents/small groups can be, and this shows you can't be both. Loved having the Brompton for rent by the way, I didn't because there was only 1 - add another and then we would have.nA good try Marriott.
If the review was just staff, this would be 5 stars, 10/10 - great team. Each time I visited reception, the bar, restaurant, everyone was incredibly friendly.nThe rooms are funky and comfy, not the biggest but had everything you'd need.nFood was amazing, came out quite quickly and the portions were great.nLocation wise, it's a bit out of the way. I walk everywhere and found a parade of shops and some half decent restaurants about 10-15 mins away.nThe parking is open but easy and fairly priced. Would happily stay again.
As a woman, spending a night alone miles from home for business can be daunting. I’ve made mistakes before in hotel choice. This time was a massive hit and I’ll definitely be back when I visit Plymouth again.nnThe most incredible, compassionate, funny and wonderful staff. A really modern and friendly vibe. Loved the decor! Clean room, plenty of space and most importantly a very comfortable bed after a hard day nnMy one and ONLY gripe was the very slippery shower floor. Not sure what that was about, but other than that, it was a very lovely shower and bathroom in general with all the things you need. Also LOVED the lighting set up. A brilliant addition was the sensor turning on the light under the bed - a lovely touch so you can see your way to the toilet in the night. Not too bright so as to disrupt your sleepiness. Oh and the food was to die for!!!! I will definitely be back!
Super cozy and hi tech hotel, with fair pricing.nThere's a billiard pool to have some fun.n5th floor has extremely good quality mattresses, definitely a must sleep on those rooms. Breakfast is decent and there's a nice bar serving drinks and much more.
