First part of the trail is VERY boggy and wet but still easy to find the way up to the peak. Lovely view when there are no clouds.
Great hike only takes a couple hours be prepared for the wind though its ferocious!! and boggy underfoot..
Stunning mountain! In Sept we had good weather conditions making hike easier also due to built up path up to half way. Quite steep in the middle so get good boots. Can get quite windy. Beautiful views all throughout
Visited 18/03/2022. Very difficult hike! The first half of the ascent is through very wet, muddy terrain, and the second half is very steep on loose rock/stone. We had very strong winds on this day which made it even harder. Would only recommend to confident hikers. Limited parking that fills up early. There's a small inlet off the road heading towards the lake that you can use and walk about 10 mins up to the trailhead. Then when you get back you can grab a coffee from the little coffee truck "The Mini Bean" and enjoy the view of the lake below.
The most beautiful peak has been visited so far, it is difficult to climb,wet, we took 4 hours back and forth.
Definitely recommend walking poles it will make your life easier especially if your inexperienced like myself took around 3 hours to complete, well worth it
Great views up there! The start of the trail is a shame but saw crews working on it. Hopefully this will be resolved very soon.
Really enjoyed climbing Errigal now they have laid a pathway through the bog. We had perfect weather conditions. Highly recommend
A relatively straightforward hike to the top. Just follow the newly built pathway to the top and you can't go wrong. Bring extra layers as it can get cold even during the summer. It is a tourist trap so parking can be a pain. Overall a great hike with amazing views of the Derryveaghs and surrounding area.
First time climbing errigal, the new path they have put in place definately makes it more accessible to climb for novice climbers, it was nice to not have to trudge through wet bog. The path runs the whole way to the top of the mountain with steps on the steeper ground. Parking can be limited if you're not there early or if its a good day for climbing. Views from the top are spectacular once the cloud clears.
