Story

Sleeping up to 22, Mosspaul is situated in an idyllic location on the A7 Edinburgh to Carlisle road in the Scottish Borders. It is set in an area renowned for its opportunities for walking, fishing, shooting, stalking, cycling, motorcycling and other country pursuits. It is ideal either as a base for families or groups looking for a rural retreat or an active holiday. To the north lie the Border towns of Hawick, Selkirk and Jedburgh while to the south within easy travelling distance, lie Carlisle, Langholm, Gretna, Annan and Dumfries, Keilder Water etc.

Mosspaul Inn was a Stage on the Coach from Edinburgh to London and was first mentioned in the early 17th Century Charters of the Earl of Home. Even earlier, there was a chapel welcoming pilgrims and families for marriage and christening ceremonies on the site. Visitors have included William Wordsworth, en route to a visit with Walter Scott, and William Ewart Gladstone. The site is steeped in history and Border Tradition and still plays a part in the local Common Riding today.

The building as it stands today was rebuilt in 1901 and up until recently was a small hotel with a bar and restaurant. The house now provides families and groups with excellent and flexible accommodation, including a bar with a pool table, games room with table tennis, darts, cinema and giant Wii, iPod docking station and sound system, as well as comfortable sitting and bedrooms. Mosspaul has a commercial kitchen allowing for easy catering for larger groups. Prices start from £1200 per week.

Mosspaul is available to rent exclusively as a whole so you will not have to share any of the facilities with anyone else. Full details of the accommodation are available on the website.
