Turned up on a hot weekday summer afternoon, and found it deserted and locked up. Apparently it's not manned in the afternoons any more. So, asked the train guard for a ticket and found that they are not sold on the trains either. So had a free train trip to Reading West -which has no barriers. To be fair to the train company -the station is nowhere near the village, which has a good bus service to Reading. Surprised this station survived Beeching.

No phone signal and looks really really miserable. Being there made me unhappy

Lovely little Brunel designed station. Not sure whether car park is lit. When I parked there 10 years ago it wasn't and you couldn't avoid stepping in puddles when dark
