I regularly attend Morrisons in Barnsley city centre as a Just Eat driver collecting customer orders, so I’m in this store multiple times each week. What I continue to observe behind the cigarette/customer service counter is some of the poorest customer service I’ve seen in retail.nnThere is often no acknowledgement of customers waiting. No eye contact, no “I’ll be with you shortly,” no apology for delays. People are left standing for excessive periods while staff move at an extremely slow pace. The speed of service is consistently poor, and the overall attitude displayed comes across as indifferent and, at times, outright dismissive.nnOn several occasions I’ve witnessed customers raising issues about being overcharged. Customers have shown pictures of shelf pricing, yet the receipt clearly reflects a higher charge. This seems to be happening frequently, which raises serious concerns about accuracy and attention to detail. When people are already frustrated from waiting, discovering they’ve been overcharged only makes matters worse.nnAs someone who works in a customer-facing role myself, I understand retail can be demanding. However, basic professionalism costs nothing: acknowledge people, apologise for delays, show some urgency, and treat customers with respect. At present, the experience behind that counter feels lazy and unstructured rather than pressured or busy.nnThis isn’t based on a one-off visit — it’s a pattern observed week after week. Morrisons is a well-known national brand, and the service at this particular counter in Barnsley city centre is simply not reflecting that standard. I hope management take a serious look at this area of the store and address both service speed and staff attitude, because the current situation is letting the store down badly.
Terrible customer service from Kiosk lady Sue!nnI went in this morning at 7am, approached what I thought was staff member because she was in the morrisons uniform to ask question. However I was met with the rudest and meanest human, namely Sue.nnI wanted to ask about merchandise in boxes at the entrance of the door. Sue was extremely rude to me, I pointed at what I was about to ask about and she rudely said 'that doesn't open until 10am', I calmly said I wasn't asking about that her response was ' what are you asking about then'. I explained well tried and she said it had nothing to do with her, it would be the floor staff she's only kiosk.nnI am not sure if it was because it's early morning and she didn’t want to be at work or it's because I am black. To me it seems it was the latter case because I saw her a few minutes later and she seemed to be happy to interact with other customers at her kiosk who happened to be caucasian. Needless to say I was so upset and left the store without getting the other things I went into store for. I did go to the kiosk on my way out to make sure I read her name badge right.nnPlease train your staff to treat people with kindness without discrimination. It would have been kinder for her to say ' I don't deal with black people' than to speak and treat me like I am nothing.
This particular Morrissons’ outlet, does not restock many of their shelves in a week. I went there on 5 consecutive days 5,6,7,8,9 Jan and they don’t restock Oh So Soft Wet Wipes green and pink and Warburton’s Potato Cake. Their bread shelves are so messy like they just got robbed, everyday!
Quick and easy to get what you need. Just need a bit more on the snack selection for meal deals other than that staff were friendly and service was fast
Morrisons have an offer 3 items of fruit £5 when I checked my receipt I was charged £6.20 maybe not a lot The customer service person said its a more card offer but nowhere does it state this she said all our reductions are more card offers which still is not the case as everything I bought on offer was correct without using a more card it should be made clear if things are on more card offers
