Terrible service. Buyer beware.

I booked my VW Golf GTD in to Mint Detailing to apply a ceramic coating and protect the paintwork, upholstery and alloys, at a cost of £570.00.

My car was returned to me with extensive damage to both near side alloys and tyres. In addition, the car had 10 miles of diesel left in the tank, despite having approximately 190 miles in the tank when left with Mint Detailing. 

Mint Detailing accepted liability for the damaged wheels and advised that they had been dropped, and the near side rear alloy was removed from the car at our home and taken for refurbishment while the car remained on a jack on our driveway for 5 days.

When the wheel was returned to us, we drove the car to the end of our street and heard a knocking noise and immediately turned back and called our local garage to book the car in. We were horrified to learn that all four wheels on the car were loose, having been inadequately torqued by Mint Detailing. The refurbished alloy had a buckle in it, and the near side front wheel was so loose it was missing a wheel nut.

Several independent mechanics assessed the damage and confirmed the wheels would have to be in motion at speed for damage of this nature to occur.

VW advised it would be £700 (with discount) per alloy and at this time, Mint Detailing refused to offer any further assistance with our complaint. I was then blocked from the Mint Detailing Facebook page before I could leave an honest review of the service I received.

A couple of days later, I discovered while in the care of Mint Detailing, someone connected their phone to my Bluetooth hands free. Something I can't see as being necessary if the car is stationary.

Given our lack of confidence in this business, I have since taken my car to other accredited detailers who have independently confirmed the detailing service we have paid for has not been carried out.

In my opinion, I would strongly advise people to avoid this business at all costs as based on my experience, I am now substantially out of pocket, and my car was returned to me in a dangerous condition.

Excellent customer service and level of workmanship from Chris. Will never use another detailer again, that’s how much I would recommend him.
