Story

An "indispensable fixture of Hampstead" (Hardens 2012), the restaurant serves healthy and traditional Southern Italian pizza and pasta with a contemporary flare.

With many awards and nominations over the last 8 years, Mimmo La Bufala showcases the gastronomic heritage of Naples with critically acclaimed pizzas, pasta, fish and meat dishes. Unlike many other restaurants that claim to cook pizzas the Italian way, Mimmo La Bufala's real wood-fired oven ensures extraordinarily tasty and authentic pizzas, using the finest, Italian toppings.

The emphasis has always been on quality and freshness, not just the fish dishes, but also for the veal steak and lamb milanese.

Expect fine dining but a warm and welcoming atmosphere, nothing stuffy! The Mimmo La Bufala team are always on hand to make your dining experience one that your will be sharing with your friends, keeping you returning time and time again.

Unfortunately this is not an Italian I'd return to again, the restaurant itself was charming and the waiter was trying his best to serve us well. Though there were a few pointers that let me down, the cutlery was dirty, the crab patties were still frozen in the middle, the seafood linguine was luke warm, pasta was a little over Al dente and the seafood just seemed exhausted. The pizza dough however seemed lovely and doughy. I think if you eat here then get the pizza but everything else needs some work, I didn't get that authentic Italian taste from the pasta at all.
We actually went late on Saturday night and was unsure if we’d be able to get food, however they were very welcoming, I ordered calamari to start which was AMAZING and various pasta dishes for mains. From start to finish the food and service was impeccable. One of the best Italian restaurants around the area. Susy served us and she was so lovely, very friendly and recommended a lovely wine that went down a treat. Thank you all for the lovely night me and my husband celebrated for our anniversary. We will definitely be back.
The staff here are wonderful. We ordered quite a bit but the sautéed prawns as a starter was great, I highly recommend their seafood linguine as a main too. We ordered a focaccia rosa as well, however it came as a pizza style which was a bit different but still tasted good even though it was slightly charred underneath. We were offered a complimentary tiramisu at the end and it was delicious.
I don’t like leaving bad reviews. And I want to say from the outset that I had a good meal here about 6 months ago. But tonight’s experience was awful. Granted a huge table of 20 overwhelmed the restaurant, servers and the kitchen. We could see that and tried to be patient while we sat for more than an hour without service. My salad arrived looking like it had been assembled by a child. Still, we held on to our sympathy until my main arrived and was inedible. I ordered fish. It had the texture and consistency of microwaved chicken. We were meant to be taking a friend out for a little celebration, but it was just embarrassing and maddening. I would like to see this restaurant survive. They shouldn’t book so many tables if the staff and kitchen can’t handle them.
Pasta with clams and with meat were nice but the gnocchi with pesto and burrata were a bit overwhelming.
We went here for my mums birthday on 15th October and it was lovely! I cannot recommend enough. We had a lovely dinner service from a gentlemen called Mohamed. He was very attentive. The overall ambience of the restaurant is lovely. The food was tasty. Vegetarian options: One of our guests at the table is a vegan and had a lovely meal. Parking: Paid parking outside the restaurant
I came here on my wedding anniversary, we had a lovely evening The food was amazing. I highly recommend this little place in hampered. We were looked after by Roberto such a pleasant man. The only downside was that day the pizza oven was getting cleaned. So I will def come back to try out the pizza. And the music was amazing all evening. If you like the 80s and older
I was excited by the variety of the menu and also to be able to book a table the week in which lockdown restrictions had eased. On top of the huge variety they had a specials menu. I chose the truffle pasta and was disappointed. There were bit of beef thrown in which I thought odd and no truffle shavings or grating offered. Service was good however and the vibe was bustly. Location is good with easy parking available and nice greenery on the other side of the road.
Overall an exceptional experience! The clams where delicious, you could feel the taste of the ocean! Amazing quality food and amazing service from Roberto, with calming atmosphere, surpassed my expectations, will definitely return!
Service is atrocious. We did not have a table number and all of our meals came extremely late. The owner had to come to some clients to have a small talk to ease spirits. Prices are too high for what you get. I took spaghetti and a starter and in total is was more than £25, however they removed the service charges. I could have put more stars, but the owner was litterally not happy about that while we waiting 20min ! Extremely disappointed. I will not recommend it. They definitely need more organisation.
