I had a very disappointing experience with the staff at the barriers at Milton Keynes train station. I believe they need better training in how to communicate with customers politely and professionally.nnWhen a ticket does not work, staff should be willing to help and provide a reasonable alternative, especially when passengers have previously been allowed to enter through another gate to wait on the platform. During train delays, stopping customers rather than assisting them only adds to the stress and frustration of daily commuters.nnThis kind of behaviour is unacceptable and disappointing. I hope the station management addresses this issue, as commuters who rely on the service every day deserve to be treated with respect and understanding.
I’ve genuinely never felt so frustrated and disrespected trying to do something as simple as board a train.nnThere is one staff member who repeatedly refuses to let me through the barrier, despite the fact that my ticket is clearly valid for that service. It shows as off-peak on Trainline, and even the ticket office staff have confirmed it should be accepted. Yet somehow, every time I encounter this individual, I’m blocked like I’m trying to sneak onto a private jet.nnWhat makes it worse is the inconsistency. I’ve watched other passengers with similar tickets go through without any issue, while I’m singled out and turned away with no proper explanation. At one point I was even told I should take the Eurostar instead, which is honestly ridiculous given the situation.nnThe way I’ve been spoken to and treated is completely unacceptable. I have autism, and situations like this are already stressful enough without being made to feel like I’m doing something wrong when I’m not. Clear communication and basic respect would go a long way, but instead I’ve been met with dismissiveness and unnecessary confrontation.nnStaff are being paid to help passengers, not create confusion and frustration. This experience has been exhausting and upsetting, and it needs to be addressed.
This was a fantastic station to both arrive and depart at, with appropriately sized platforms for the trains! The layout is very modernized, the station name sign is slick and departure boards are all over. Navigation is easy through various signs, the entrance/exit is large and cleanliness had been maintained!
We travelled yesterday from Milton Keynes Central to Birmingham International with a group of eight adults with learning disabilities, two of whom required lift and ramp assistance. The station staff were exceptionally friendly, patient, and helpful throughout the journey. Their support made everything smooth and hassle-free, and everyone felt comfortable and well cared for. We are truly grateful for their kindness and professionalism — thank you for making travel accessible and enjoyable for all!
I’m not sure why anyone calls this a “city” station — it’s one of the worst stations I’ve used. The toilet facilities were in a bad state, there’s no proper indoor waiting area, and waiting in cold weather is a miserable experience. On top of that, there were no refreshments available after 10pm. This station really needs better basic facilities for passengers.
