Caters for a variety of dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.Sorry but we don’t allow dogs inside the pub as it is too small. We have a beer garden thoughBooking advisable. We are still doing a takeaway service during the above hours please ring with your order.Sunday Roasts are very popular as takeaways also"

In a stunning location, just minutes from Hadrian's Wall, the Milecastle is a really cosy, traditional pub. Great service from the young woman behind the bar and excellent food. I had the pie of the day - chicken, leek and ham - with creamy mash and a range of fresh, crisp veg. Delicious! Worth noting that dogs aren't allowed inside, probably due to lack of space, the pub is very small. It was a very cold day when we were there, but in warmer weather, there is outdoor seating with fab views. Muddy walking boots are no problem! We will definitely be back.
Just wonderful, this is a lovely family run pub. The food is amazing, there were 4 of us and we all had something different, we were incredibly happy with our choices. The staff were so friendly. I highly recommend eating here, you won’t be disappointed.Service: 5/5
Went to the pub on a cold, wintery day and was very pleased that it was so cozy inside! I came with my family 2 adults, 3 kids to get some food and drink. All of us were very happy with the food that arrived and the staff were very accommodating I'm vegan which is always awkward. Prices were good too!
Stayed just up the road from here and got this place as a recommendation for food. Definitely not disappointed. Food was fantastic! Beer was nice a nd cold. The service was amazing. Lovely friendly, welcoming place. Will definitely be back.
No dogs!!!! I used to spend hours in this pub enjoying lovely food in front of the fire. Now I suddenly find that dogs are no longer allowed so having walked 40 minutes to get here I’m sat outside on a freezing cold February day. Very disappointing as i loved this pub…the equally small Black Bull will have to get our custom instead!
We came here for lunch with a large group, and no reservation. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Many thanks for accommodating us!
This pub was a fantastic stop for lunch between Vindolanda and the Roman army museum. They were friendly and accommodating for my kid and baby, and the food was delicious. A lovely homey pub which is bigger on the inside!Service: 5/5
Popped in for a bite to eat between museums and thoroughly enjoyed the excellent food and friendly service. The burgers were great and the trditional pie was just lovely. The handcut chips were just as I remember my granny making !! Just about enough room for the delicious brownie & ice-cream dessert.
Lovely cosy pub but why on earth would you not allow dogs in a pub?! You could allocate an area inside that caters for so many dog owners! Real shame as this pub used to allow dogs. The soup was extremely tasty though
We found this amazing pub whilst coming down from a long day's walking off Hadrians Wall. Although we were dressed for walking and not remotely smart we were instantly made to feel at home. The atmosphere was ideal, open fires and friendly local customers, the beers were really well kept, at least the 4 we tried. The only problem was the food, we had pork belly with a black pudding and potato turrine, this was utterly delicious and possibly the best meal I have ever had, unfortunately it now means all meals I have had out since have been mediocre by comparison. Thank you for a lovely evening, don't change a thing!!!!
