"Mile End Park is a linear park of 32 hectares. The park follows Regent's Canal from Victoria Park to Limehouse Basin, and is separated from Victoria Park by the Hertford Union Canal.A plan existed from the end of WWII to create green routes connecting areas of London to the Thames, but development did not begin until the late 20th Century. The Green Bridge, a pedestrian bridge over the Mile End Road opened in 1999.The meadows and woodland throughout the park support a fantastic diversity of wildlife, including birds, butterflies and bees.Mile End Park is managed by Tower Hamlets council on behalf of the King George’s Field, Mile End Charity, a registered charity in England and Wales, number 1077859."
