Where I live the bins are usually emptied between 6.30 and 6.45 am in this weeks part of the 3 week cycle. Not today though! At 12.15 the recycling vehicle entered the estate, turned around again and left. No bins emptied. I rang the council and was informed they can do the route in any order they want to and may just be doing it in reverse today. They can come anytime up to 4 or 5 pm and to ring again if they have not been here for around 4 pm. Is it really so hard to do something by way of an established routine? Do they not think we have rights to our lives today? A little continuity for the sole service I receive for my council tax would be appreciated. I am a carer for a family member in another part of the county. This sometimes necessitates overnight stays. They have been left alone today. I don't like to leave the bin boxes outside as they are a clear indicator I am not home and have not been home.
Some of the Customer service staff are just lovely. A few are rude and don't listen. Just today I had one being rude that refused to identify themselves or record the call when requested to do so. Repairs have yet again refused to talk about anything and have hung up without speaking twice. This repair issue could have been easily resolved, but the rudness from them will sadly now result in a call to a Solicitor for disrepare.
I wrote twice about an additional garbage bin, 6 months ago and 2 months ago theres bags of rubbish on the floor as theres not enough space in the bin and they just leave it the people who work there are not competent and should not take up such a position
EDIT: In reference to the response; I did contact you on 4th December 2023 via email. You managed to raise two seperate tickets for the same item and 6 weeks later have failed to respond to either! EDIT: Now 8 weeks and still no reply.... EDIT: Now 13 weeks and a further email - still no reply!
Sounds like the team has got it right this time around. I had my bin request handled in a more professional way that l never expected. Logged on my request in the evening and the following day got a follow up email early in the morning that l responded to hesitantly knowing my people. But behold, the gentlemen on the other end had other ways of dealing with this. He always responded to every follow up that l made and even made efforts to call me back updating me on progress. We know the deliveries of bins are taking long maybe because of internal logistical issues but the wait wasn't painful as we were being updated constantly. Thanks to a gentlemen called John, keep up the good work, finally we can smile again. Happy customer.

Must say after reading all the negative reviews I've had pretty good/helpful experiences with MDDC. My Wife is severely disabled and after the upcoming move to 3 weekly bin collections I panicked as our rubbish is beyond average due to my Wife's disability. I emailed and got a reply same day asking me to call so I did the next day. The lady was very helpful and courteous not prying into embarrassing answers . Couldn't fault them on this. We have also been trying to get housed for several years but despite always being number 1 never get anywhere as there us simply very very few wheelchair adapted homes avaliable. We have bid on several homes but as they are not wheelchair adapted we are looked over. The part I don't understand is if /when we lose our home as we rent the only option is for my wife to go into care costing the council 50/60,000 a year. In 4/5 years it could be argued a bespoke house could be built... I know there are so few homes but why does it have to come to extreme desperation and cost the council a massive financial burden before anything is done??? It always seems that the sensible way is never the way... ANYWAY, today's experience was faultless.
The parks and garden team were tidying up a small park where I live and whilst they were there I asked them to cut back some overgrowing branches and shrubs that were growing over my fence. They said no problem sir we have some time . Thank you lads !!
My recycling has been missed on collection approximately 10 times despite fortnightly calls from myself asking for some sort of communication to the relevant staff to collect my recycling. I can only chalk this up to incredibly poor organisation and communication within the waste department at Mid Devon Council, in any other sector this organistaion would not be fit for purpose and with the current cost of Council Tax I'm very disappointed with the service I have received but have no option other than to continue ringing to have my recycling collected. Individuals and staff are great but it seems like a boat with no captain at times.
Charged us DOUBLE for our council tax due to "Long term empty" which by the way, we weren't I had to send evidence to prove we weren't, the evidence apprently was accepted and everything was fine but guess what? WE WERE STILL CHARGED DOUBLE! "Oh you'll get a refund" I hear you cry! Not with this council you don't, they just take it off your years council bill! Disgraceful.
