Just back from holiday and my wife suggested we get a “chippie”. I agreed and she went to our nearest Fish n Chip shop which is this one at Merkland, Kirkintilloch. She came back with two fish suppers that were absolutely terrible. Worse fish n chips we have ever bought - they definitely weren’t freshly cooked and nor were the lousy chips. Had I’d seen them being wrapped I’d have told them not to bother. Lessons learned - 1, NEVER use that place again! 2, Don’t let the wife buy fish n chips from a shop we’ve never been to before. I’m surprised you can stay in business matey!!!!! The birds are gonna get a feed in the morning though.

Good local chippy popular with lunch break schoolkids and residents. Recently improved with a revamp. New menu, more deals. Service seems to have improved too. Some new faces among the staff, I'm not sure if the place is under new management? Order ahead or knock and wait.
Phoned for order not even a ten minutesĺ drive from my home 1 and a 1/2 later I called to ask if my order was on its way ...the usual answer its on the way ...still waited 1/2 hrs. ..2 hrs later I got my order. .. if your in a hurry I wouldn't bother...used to be a good chip shop, should have ask for fish and chips with my order as I couldn't find any in my fish supper...very poor portions...not the best by far

This place used to be really good, portion sizes have became smaller now and service isn't best either. My last few orders have been missing something or I have been over charged as the order has been taken wrong.
Ordered online and paid. Got 2 emails at the same time. One confirming delivery the other saying order rejected and money would be returned to card. Telephone constantly engaged. We have now had to go there, had we wanted to pick up we would have at the outset. Poor service
10pm n no answer to phone n shutters are down. Supposed to be open till 11pm! .. don't know how this chippy is still trading when there are several more in kirky it should be competing against. Too used to having a captive audience in the past but unless they can stay open till time they are supposed to be then I can't see them lasting much longer
For many years I frequently used this chippy and was never disappointed, unfortunately recently the standards have went south. I will be not using this establishment until things change.
