On a calm Monday evening, I enjoyed a quiet drink out. The atmosphere was peaceful, relaxing, and warm. At the weekend, it is definitely more crowded and noisy, but it’s still a wonderful spot.
Let's start off with the positives, the pub itself is in pristine condition, nice garden area and very spacious, good looking pub.nHowever it's all downhill from there.nStaff either have no knowledge, or are just rude.nArrived at 11am for a breakfast asked at the bar about ordering food.nWas told they don't serve food until 12.nEven though sign outside advertised breakfast from 10am - 11:30.nOrdered 2 soft drinks one of them was flat.nAbout half an hour later at the table I noticed a breakfast menu and was flicking through it.nWhen another member of staff approached and basically snatched the menu off the table and said we're stopping breakfast now you're too late in a snappy tone.nConsidering there was only about 10 people in the pub at this time I don't quite understand why they would want to be putting customers off.nSafe to say I won't be going back, plenty of other places to go in the area with a nicer atmosphere and nicer staff!nAfter this experience I'll be advising others to do the same
We visited tonight, on a busy Saturday evening and the 3 of us ordered 3 x Rib Eye Steaks and 3 x Sundeas. Service was quick and most of the servers were friendly except from one girl behind the bar that looked like she didn't want to be there.nFood was excellent quality and tasty, reasonably priced and there were plenty of places to sit considering it was busy.nOverall we'll definitely be returning. We were visiting my daughter today who lives in the area and the Metropolitan has been recommended to me by a friend. It didn't disappoint. Sunday roast was excellent especially the extra Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes! the staff are very attentive, friendly and helpful. Also had a good selection of beers and ales.nnWe were inside the lovely dining area but outside looked great in the sunshine. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful experience at The Metropolitan. The service was very quick and flexible, and the venue itself was beautifully decorated. For our baby shower, they kindly gave us the Barker Room, which we were able to decorate with baby themed items, making the event feel very personal and special.nnWe had a mix of adults, elderly guests, and young children, and everyone felt comfortable and well looked after. The food was excellent, both the adult and children’s menus were wonderful and everyone loved the warm atmosphere, especially the Christmas decorations. The duck in particular was highly recommended by several guests.nnEverything was easy to organise, and the day ran smoothly thanks to a very supportive and attentive team. Highly recommended for special occasions.nnP.S. Dogs are welcome, we definitely regretted leaving our furry family member behind!
