I would have to say that the reception staff seem to let this place down a bit since all the other staff are so great and friendly and really make you feel welcome. The food is great, breakfast is worth every penny and the rooms are gorgeously decorated. I would definitely stay again. All our guests seem to have been made to wait for unnecessarily long periods of time to get the reception staff's attention. And even when they did seem to notice you they didn't really acknowledge the fact that you had been waiting for apparently no reason...

Check in and check out was quick although it should have been non existent because I already did it on line and I was still asked to give my card details and had to wait for my key to be produced. My room was beautiful and big and quiet as I requested. But it was dirty: lots of dust not only on furniture also on kettle and cups (which indicates it was a room that wasn't supposed to be given away probably because some carpet replacement was on the way due to a massive stain in front of the bathroom door) . The sofa bed for my child wasn't done. 2min into the room a polite housekeeper knocked at the door to clean the bedroom without knowing I was there already. She then asked the head housekeeper who said it had already been cleaned (not true at least not for a week while it was empty). Room service good and efficient. Breakfast fantastic. Swimming pool very accommodating times, good size, well maintained and pleasant staff. Only thing I would add is a rubber mat for the changing rooms that get very wet and dirty (not slippery) from outside shoes.

The room was fine, but I've stayed in much cheaper hotels that had exactly the same room and bathroom quality. Cheap low quality products in the bathroom, and only one of each even though the room was for 2 people. The breakfast was fine, but the dishes were not always fresh and the eggs were rubbery. Plus we had to take tickets to queue for a table which I wouldn't have expected in such an expensive hotel.

Room clean and tidy, adequate for needs. View not great but to be expected in a city centre hotel. Nice welcome note left with a sample of the hotel honey, a nice touch. Breakfast was standard fare, perfectly okay but nothing outstanding, didn't have anything else to eat in hotel. Car park next door to hotel and location in the city very good. Reception staff friendly and helpful both checking in and checking out.

On initial check in and getting to the room I'd have rated the hotel much higher, overlooking that the stairs needed vacuuming and there were a few paint chips in the room. Overall the check in and first impressions were good. My score reduced over breakfast where it appeared there were not enough staff for the number of guests. Tables needed clearing, cutlery, crockery and food were not all available and the leather seats (which had got wet with our swimming things) left a very dirty black mark on the napkins used to dry them suggesting they need a good clean. The 'spa' is where my score drops considerably, having read other reviews I was aware we needed to go outside which was not ideal however the condition of the spa was what really let it down. The initial impression was good however the level of cleanliness left a lot to be desired. My daughter found bugs in one of the dirty drains and parts of the pool such as the far bottom corner and around the jacuzzi were particularly dirty. The towels we had been given all smelt of vinegar, it wasn't nice to feel like you were drying your body on old chip papers. It was disappointing that after the first impression the spa areas were so tired and dirty. The staff we met with throughout our stay were all very helpful and have helped keep my score at a neutral level.
