Lovely but i feel underused refurbed part of glagow merchant city's old fruitmarket. Many restaurants have come and gone since its inception. Always nicely decorated at christmas Restaurants and pubs are expensive.
Worth it to see some of the home made articles there.
Used to be a lot better, but know it's not as nice. Also, to get to the toilets, you had to follow A4 bits of paper taped to walls and doors up some stairs and corridors, one corridor had very little lighting and was covered in graffiti.
Merchant Square is really an interesting place to dine in. There are many restaurants under one roof. We visited two to three different restaurants over 2 days as some of them were not opened on certain days due to COVID restrictions. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the variety of food served at these restaurants. One of it was at Franell where we had Asian food for lunch. You should try too.
Came here over the Christmas period when the market was on and as the city is so big there were two different ones but the music was nice and loud and they had themselves a great atmosphere! As this was Glasgow of course it was raining but this didn’t stop us! We got to see all the Christmas lights and the market and it was just a whole other experience and it was something I would always do whenever we go up to Glasgow.
Nice area for events and several eateries.
We were treated quite shabbily by very abrupt bar staff towards the end of our evening in O'Neiils bar. Served a round of drinks about 11.25 pm , then basically hassled to move on.
Merchant Square is great for getting away from the hustle and bustle of Glasgow city centre. A quiet haven to have drink or something to eat in bar/restaurants such as the Metropolitan. A winner for sure.
Lots of great venues! Super loud on a weekend afternoon :- but if you like that atmosphere, kudos to you! Across the street at the Mharsanta was more calming.
Lovely night out in the Merchant city. Sets a nice atmosphere, clean and cosy. We dined in Steak, Cattle and Roll which is a fantastic restaurant.the food is first class, filling, delicious and the service is just as great. They bend over backwards to make sure we had an enjoyable night , and enjoyed ourselves. The are very knowledgeable in the enjoyable evening . We return all the time and will continue too in the future. Cannot recommend any higher. This little treasure within the merchant city is an absolute MUST VISIT!!!!
