Utterly incompetent council. Tried to report missed recycling and waste collection but just not interested. Recorded message tells you to use online form but that form isn't available. I live in a reasonably rural location. There are no street lights the roads are more potholes than tarmac basically the only service they supply me with is waste collection and they can't get that right. What a waste of my money and anyone else's who lives in Mendip. To top it all the one thing that was efficient the local recycling centre in Coleford was shut. But they still want to build more houses here when they can't service the existing ones, but then again the new houses will pay them more council tax for them to waste.

This council is an utter disgrace. I’ve lived all over the country and never had to deal with this amount of incompetence.nThreatening letters sent through demanding council tax payment in full even though we’ve never missed a months payment.nSpent over 5 hours trying to talk to someone on the phone only for the line to get cut off.nThis is the council that took 4 months, yes 4 months to get the names right on our bill.nAppalling service, if you can call it a service.
If only 0 stars was possible. 7 years after moving out of the area mendip sends a letter one week before Christmas saying I owe them £1700. No real details. I request the full invoices, suddenly a couple of hundred quid drops off the bill. I 110% owe them nothing. They are trying to say they overpaid me for a discretionary housing payment given to me during a time when they themselves had referred me to a food bank and I was about to be homeless. I requested that no action be taken whilst I dispute the case and they told me to write a letter. They started taking money out of my partners universal credit regardless. I tried calling UC today, they told me to go to debt management who forwarded me to the gov website which says to call debt management. It's like being shaken down my gangsters!! Awful awful awful
I have never come across such a poorly ran council.nI am asked to pay for months that haven’t even occurred yet, for months that I will not be living in the council and have been sent a court appeal after 2 months of moving into the county! I have been in contact with them to discuss these deductions and explain the situation. I have not been sent any official letter except for this appeal, this is the first letter I receive since the welcome to the county letter 2 months ago. THREE MONTHS have I lived in this county and they’re asking me to pay over a thousand pounds up until March 2022? What kind of council do you run here??
