Our first time here. Even with the problems, it was worth it. There was a large event across the street so probably wasn't a good decision to pick this day on our part but this was our 2nd attempt. We tried breakfast a month ago but they didn't open until 11. This visit.....the two young servers are a bit overwhelmed but they kept going without showing frustration. It seemed disorganized in seating and service. We waited to be seated, served and then the check way longer than is usual in a restaurant. Others waited longer. Could definitely use a busperson which would help immensely who wants to walk in and see multiple tables needing clearing. I went out of my norm and tried the shrimp and grits which sounded flavorful. At first look, I was hesitant and planned on taking half home. I was wrong on both accounts. My final analysis on the dish was YUM.
Service was excellent and the food was phenomenal! Get the fried green tomatoes and the matzo ball soup!Food: 5/5
Excited first timers. Didn't try it. Won't return. Walked in at 125pm on a Saturday today for brunch. Cute restaurant but a lot of empty dirty tables around. We weren't greeted, only asked "for 3?" We said yes and were seated in the first table as you walk in. The tabletop was still dirty....sticky with crumbs and the floor was covered in fruit and other food. There were two clean booths available. She tossed the menus and silverware onto the dirty table. Didn't ask if we wanted brunch or not. We waited a few minutes hoping the server would return and clean up but when she came back, she only asked, "Do you need your table wiped off?" At that point, no. No we didn't. We got up and walked out. Not hard to give good service.
Oh man. The breakfast was one of the best I've ever had. Crab and eggs with a little hot sauce... Nom nom nom. We basically woke up this morning and decided we wanted potatoes. These were the freakin' best breakfast potatoes I've ever had. My wife got an omelet, and then we also spilt some pancakes with chocolate chips and strawberry. The only knock was that we were maybe the 4th group seated but no one came to us for quite a while. The manager I think noticed before I could say something. Our server was wonderful once she got there. It's a popular spot for a reason.
Absolutely the BEST and highest Quality Food in town. Thank god for integrity! Have had multiple times all of which were above and beyond expectation. Highly recommend. They have beer as well. Usually go at lunch while at work so beer isn't an option but it's nice they have a huge selection. Have gotten food for pickup as well. Always spot on. Very nice little cafe atmosphere. All the servers n employees have been so great n pleasant. It's a tiny bit more $ but it's worth every penny. I would actually pay more since the portions and quality surpass literally every restaurant around the area by a huge margin So glad we found the Cafe
The food is amazing! Our server was not attentive at all though, didn’t write down our order so we didn’t get it right. She was nice but there was no hospitality. It took over 10 minutes just for water.Food: 5/5
We've been here a bunch of times before. Like most people, we wanted a break from cooking mid-week. With the recent storms, people all over the city were without power and Internet but Cafe Melissa was open. We ordered online but got notice the restaurant hadn't "accepted" my order. I tried calling but no answer, it wouldn't go through. My husband was picking up the food on his way home so he pulled in but they didn't have the order. Their internet had gone out so it didn't transmit to them also explained the phone not working. The employees checked our online receipt and got to preparing the food. They were closing soon and because they lost Internet, weren't taking anymore orders. But they made ours. It was, as usual, delicious. We were so thankful they made our food when they didn't have to.
Made it to @cafemelissa_avonlake Their Steak tacos were amazingly good. Large portion. The perfect amount of seasoning. Then reading on the fried pickles was crispy and delicious. Even when I was full I ate the breading. Hand-breaded chicken tenders were a hit. Fries tasted like fair fries. We also had their Shrimp Thai Bowl, Carbonara and Mac-n-cheese.
great food. i always get the chicken and waffles and it’s to die for. my dad loves the brussels, especially with the sauce. i’ve had the same waitress and she’s very sweet. props to her and the chef, amazing foodFood: 5/5
I can't say enough about the food at Café Melissa... I met my husband there for a late birthday lunch and had as my appetizer the deep fried brussel sprouts in ponzu sauce! Let me tell you about these real quick Even if you don't like brussel sprouts you're going to love these! So delicious and it's something that I get every single time I go there I just can't get past how delicious they are! For my entree I had the pistachio encrusted grouper that was out of this world served on a bed of roasted sweet potatoes or maybe it was roasted butternut squash I can't tell it was delicious though with jicama slaw and peppers the sauce on it was phenomenal. Chef Matthew cooked to perfection as always!!! My husband had the southwestern Cobb salad which can be served with a protein He chose the crab cakes which he said were very good. All in all this was a fabulous birthday luncheon. Are waitress was on point always ready to come by and fill our water glasses and was very friendly and knowledgeable. The only downside was they used to serve this cake It was called birthday cake It was the best cake I've ever had in my life. I'm not sure if it was when they had sweet Melissa's bakery or if it was from an outside source but I wish somehow they could get it back because I would really love to taste that cake again. If you found my review helpful give it a thumbs up and go check out Cafe Melissa for yourself You will love it! P.S. honorable mention goes to another meal that you can get there which is the brick chicken but it does take 20 minutes or so extra it's so worth it it's deliciously juicy tasting amazing chicken that they literally hold down with a wrapped brick. It comes with macaroni and cheese and lemony green beans.
