Have used Mctears online bid system a few times with no real problems, except having to wait until they find your lot at pick up, even though I booked a pick up time. But this time really annoyed me, after putting in a bid the auctioneer apparently didn't see my bid and sold the item for a third of what I offered, I was excited to have put in a winning bid and obviously very disappointed being told I hadn't got it, I can only imagine how the seller would feel if they knew. I wonder if mctears will own up to them?
I have dealt with many auction houses over the years and Having recently bought some items through McTears they do rate pretty much as one of the best I have used…. From getting registered right through to picking up the lots I had won the process was great. Special thanks to Sandra for being so helpful when I had driven a good few miles to collect my lots - she even sorted a cup of tea out for me !! Keep up the good work. Thanks Chris
I Have used McTears recently to help me with my mums house removal and selling some items on. I dealt with Shelly in particular who was very helpful at letting me know how it all went and kept me up to date. The removal guys themselves were also amazing very experienced and were really quick and also clean workers. I was so happy with my experience that I’ve already recommended them to other friend and family .

Great experience with McTears. From the initial home visit my feeling was very positive. My items were picked up by a lovely guy who was so professional, helpful and friendly. I did have a question about commission but that was quickly answered. I had two auctioneers out to assess the house items, and both took different things, but McTears by far was overall the better experience.
I was delighted with the professionalism of the auctioneers and the amount raised for my family heirloom Chinese porcelain - Rose Brush Pot. From the moment I arrived with my antiques I was dealt with excellently by Tom who sorted the items into separate lots and imparted his great insight and knowledge of antiques to me. Later that same day I was contacted personally by telephone by Stewart Atkinson who sounded to me that one of my antiques might possibly be worth quite a lot of money and was already creating a bit of a stir in the auction viewing area - and he was courteous and knowledgeable on the telephone of the era and historical importance of the Chinese porcelain and advised that he was intending placing the item in a separate lot because of its unique importance, which I happily agreed to do. On the day of the auction Stewart handled the sale personally with a dedicated and composed professionalism and raised £2,400 which was a huge surprise because it was far in excess of the estimate of £200 - £400 which I believe Stewart had held intentionally to see if would attract even greater interest. Overall, I was delighted with the high standard of service shown by Mctear’s Auctions and all the email and telephone correspondence I received - especially Stewart Atkinson - thank you to everyone for their dedicated support.
Went in with some of my mums rings and other pieces of jewellery and was made to feel like I'd brought in pieces from a lucky bag , granted they weren't 'High end' rings but were silver and gold gemstone rings got told by the lady they were mostly costume jewellery and not really worth putting into the auction she hardly even looked at the items just totally uninterested, I left and tried a local pawn shop to get a price and got £1,700 for the jewellery. I personally wouldn't go there again

I've been going to Mctears for over 20 years mainly as a buyer and always received a greeting upon entering the building. A very professional business that provides care and friendship with whomever I meet. Recently I attended McTears to sell a portion of my Wedgwood collection and was met by Mrs Sandra Spiers who greeted us, offered us a coffee or tea, and arranged for a representative to look at our Wedgwood and organise the items for the saleroom. Always a pleasurable visit at McTears Glasgow.
