Nice fish and chips. Service score lost because of not taking card payments. It's 2023 and people pay using Apple Pay and Google Pay. I do not even carry bank cards with me.Food: 5/5
The first time we came here in October 2022, it was probably the best cod and chips I've ever had. Absolutely perfect fish, light crunchy batter and wonderfully cooked, and the chips were amazing. The staff were so friendly and helpful too, and the restaurant is very neat and clean. We visited again today and it was just the same experience. Very impressed! A day's walking and activities in and around south Croydon punctuated by a stop at McDermotts as recommended by a local the boss!. Lived up to its reputation- high quality meal, excellent service. Yes you'll find cheaper, but, if it's an all-round quality experience you're after, I'd thoroughly recommend.Food: 5/5
Promised award winning fish and chips by my friend on our visit to Sanderstead. These were the best cod, chips and tartare I've ever had. Outstanding and highly recommend!
This is a great place to get your fish and chips fix. The service was very quick, seeing as it was a Friday. I had plaice and it was very nice, the batter was perfect. The chips were also good, crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside and they weren't oily; you could tell that they change the oil regularly. Definitely will be back soon

Wow! This Fish & Chip ship never fails to deliver. McDermott’s is now my only go to for delicious fish & chips. I sat in this time & the restaurant accommodates over 100 people I’d say. Plus they serve alcohol with your meal should you wish to indulge. Winner all round.
Good food, excellent service. This is a traditional dining experience that you don't find too often.
Have been going to his place for years, fish and chips are one of the best I’ve had. Reason why 4 stars is that when you order fish and chips to go, the portion size in the chips seems to be much smaller ! Especially when you order in bulk So make sure you you get them to put the chips separately...... picture just fish as ran out of chips !! :
