We went to Clitheroe for the day and were pleased to find out it had a castle on a big hill, great views but many steps which brewed up an appetite. Apparently Maxwells Cafe Wine Bar is the place to be and be seen in this town, so we went there. The service was very friendly and fast. They weren't pushy or impatient, they let us order in our own time. The food was great. I went for an halloumi burger which came topped with probably the best onion rings I've ever had. They were crisped to perfection. The burger and fries were also very tasty and I gobbled down the lot. My wife enjoyed what she had and so did the kids. If I ever come back to Clitheroe, I'll make sure I stop by again. Full marks for everything!
Great location, and in the summer the roof top terrace is a great peaceful place for a meal. Good offers on products. Love the gift tree where you can take tickets for free products, and also donate tickets for others. The only reason for the 4* is the food is nothing special, nothing to complain about but definitely room for improvement.
Staff were lovely and food was superb. Stopped in for some lunch only to discover they serve breakfast all day! So Eggs Benedict was the choice which was perfect Tuna Melt was also great. Would definitely recommend.
Staff were very friendly & pleasant service. Food was reasonably priced. Unfortunately the food at the time wasn’t the best quality, the fries were swapped as they tasted greasy. The chicken sandwich wasn’t paid for as the chicken was rubbery, overcooked and had a lot of sinuesthe bloody red chunky bits of lower quality Breast. The sausage and cheese sandwich was nice, maybe just a little less cheese, never thought I would complain about cheese but it’s the largest wedge I’ve ever seen. The drinks were reasonably priced. We did have an issue with the bill at the end, mainly due to us moving table, they rectified without question which was great service and handy to just get sorted right away. Staff service & understanding off issues was amazing, a little refinement and more care in preparation of food & would be a great place. Has not put me off and I will return to see what else the place has to offer & If it was just a blip, we’re all human at the end of the day!
The food was delicious. Asked for a caramel latte, the waitress asked me "vanilla latte" I said " caramel please" she said "of course" came back with our drinks... vanilla latte... I drank it because I don't like complaining but come on! Ha! Other than that friendly staff when I glanced at other meals that were passing us it all looked fantastic.
Visited with my wife and both enjoyed a fantastic full English breakfast. Despite being a busy Sunday lunchtime the food arrived quickly and was just right, thick bacon, well done black pudding and the egg came how I asked too. Only slight niggle was the waitress misheard me asking for English mustard and returned with a toasted English muffin but otherwise spot on
Great service and friendly staff. Coffee was a bit strong. However very nice.
Food took over 45 minutes to get to the table and it was cold. Staff just stood around chatting when we were waiting to order dessert. Ordered desert then after 20 minutes were told there was no lemon tart left. All in all a very unprofessional service creating a poor experience. Won’t be rushing back!
Very friendly and helpful staff, particularly the red haired chap meeting and greeting you Saturday. Lovely to sit outside under the canopy if sunny or inside if wet. Seating also available on the upstairs balcony. Good selection of snack type food ie. Brie, fig and red onion on ciabatta with balsamic vinegar and rocket dressing
Me and my partner both got Frenchmen burger meals, they came cold but we didn't want to complain as they were busy so we just ate them and they tasted nice, immediately after finishing them we had both been to the bathroom and been sick, this is the only thing we have eaten today. The worker was lovely about it and spoke with the chef. They said they were cooked this morning and it can't be food poisoning. We understand it might not have set in that fast but something had made us immediately ill in our meal. There was no compromise with the bill or offered anything else and we payed just shy of £40 for something that made us feel awful. We have had this in the past and never had any problems but we are very unsatisfied with it today. We won't be returning
