Absolutely disgraceful college, staff especially estates department including security officers and estates managers don't care about anything and brush all problems under the carpet like it was nothing. I was abused and insulted by a security officer only because I forgot my ID card. The place inside and outside should be monitored by police as many incidents happened. The whole building is managed badly by the estates staff who also abuse and bully students. As I'm a current student doing health and social care, I don't recommend this horrible place. I hate this college due to the bad experience I have had recently there. They said you can complain but it's actually useless.
Went today to their open day, it was from 10/2pm. Stood outside in the rain for two hours before finally getting in. Two lines one for 16/18 year olds and anyone one else wait in the rain. For a building as big as it is to make people stand outside in the rain was so unwelcoming and disorganised. But wait it gets worse, a woman who had an attitude starting telling people in these exact words “register online there’s no point waiting here to do the same thing inside”. Well why advertise it as an open day? Shambles and I can see why they have soo many bad reviews. Remarkable that this place is still opened. Management need to sit up and take notice. So basically wasted two hours, soaked down to my shoes only to register which I could have done from the comfort of my home. And that was their open day. It really is as bad as the comments suggest. The future of those attending well, doesn’t seem to be that promising unfortunately.
I did the UAL Graphic Design course which was held in a studio in Millennium Point. The atmosphere was always productive and it felt like coming into work/ university rather than a college so I really enjoyed it. The UAL University of Arts London courses really helped you prepare for university. The Graphics and Fashion courses were UAL and were taught in studios in Millennium Point, so I recommend choosing one of those courses here, but I don't know if they still teach in Millennium Point anymore. The actual Matthew Boulton building wasn't that great though, I didn't like the environment. The student services on the third floor were also really poorly managed, I stood 6 hours in the queue in one day. 2 hours just to be told to come back later, and when I came back later I stood for 4 hours. But the student mentor service was helpful, especially Bobby Pigeon. So I recommend this college for the UAL courses.
I would give it 0 stars if I had a choice, teachers within certain departments like to argue with 16 year olds. Very disorganised and not very professional. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND!
When she came to take an English language class. I was happy. I met all the staff with a beautiful smile. But when she came to take the language test, there was an employee there. When she saw me smiling, she refused my request. This indicates racism
I enrolled last academic year onto BSc Podiatry delivered at BMet but awarded by University of Wolverhampton. Trying to get my reasonable adjustments permitted due to having eye disabilities was difficult - the inclusive advisor said it wasn't his remit and course staff didn't know whose problem it was. Contacting the disability help desk at the university took time, as they were email only due to COVID. Most adjustments agreed on weren't implemented by the course teaching team. Communication was always poor - constant last minute changes and the overall course provision wasn't good value for money. Communications from lecturers were often hard to decipher, resultant from their poor use of English vocabulary and grammar. Being a college, it simply isn't set up to deal with adults - staff could be extremely patronising and failed to appreciate the prior knowledge and experience of mature students. Management were patronising and spoke to you like a child, rather than a fee paying adult. Despite knowing all about my optical disabilities since prior to me starting the course on the 10 Sep 20, they waited till 1 April 21 to decide to do a workplace based occupational health OH assesment. This then didn't happen until 28 June 21 and I finally got the report 30 July 21. It prohibited me from doing invasive work until further assesment & monitoring could be performed. Basically I'd have to proceed to year 2 when my sight may not even be good enough for a podiatry degree nor podiatric practice. Had they done this before the academic year started, I would not have continued with Podiatry. Overall a discriminatory treatment and I've had to exit the course, having wasted a year and circa £25,000. Also, the ancillary services are totally unresponsive and unprofessional and on my first day mid pandemic, a senior member of staff used the toilet and failed to wash his hands. This turned out to be a metaphor for the whole way of working at the college - an inefficient and amateur operation. Staff often took feedback and complaints as a personal attack, rather than an opportunity to learn and grow. Some staff were evidently pushed into roles for which they lacked the skills or experience and this projected through the way the course was conducted. Directorate level staff even made excuses for failings and claimed their procedures were robust and effective, even when this was blatantly untrue. Maintaining this denial will likely be the cause of the college's demise. Also their poor admin and enrollment procedures led to delays in receiving money from Student Finance England, leading to financial hardship. I ended up spending more time trying to get various staff to apply themselves, which impeded on my time and energy for studying , which was counterproductive. This isn't a supportive or constructive environment to learn in, so I'd advise looking into all options, before considering this option.
This college gives no assistance whatsoever to mothers with young children intending to study. On the website they mention how they give childcare support but after enrollment and registration they drop the bomb of being able to support just one child if you are an advanced learner. Furthermore they also would not offer any childcare support whatsoever if you already have government funded hours for your kids regardless of whether that time is already being proposed towards other commitments, they expect you to use that time in their own words “towards time timetabled to be at college”. If you are a parent with childcare needs no not enrol here, there is no childcare support offered!!!!!
from the security man to the staffs, all r horrible , rude & unhelpful. I told the manager that I'm studying in an other organizations with the same course ,I have to change institute coz it overlaps with my other course from 2nd term. my point was 0.1 less than the requirements & that over proud manager said their assessment r different from the others. I was like wth ! why over proud & looking down to other organizations... they r all registered in UK under the gov rules they r all similar assessment. even this campus offer me now I won't enroll into a rude college where r teachers & the staffs so harsh & unhelpful... extremely bad experience, a shameful campus
WORST COLLEGE EVER. My daughters mental health has gone completely down hill because of lecturers at this awful college they don't care about your feelings whatsoever. Wouldn't recommend at all. Neelam Hussain health and social department manager is the most rude and arrogant person I've ever met
Attended this venue for a training course, the building is nice enough, fairly practical and new. The issue however seems to be the mobs of rude and immature students... bad attitudes and rude manners seem to be the norm. Not a pleasant place to visit for a short external course.
