The food looked amazing as you can see and the waitresses were very nice and polite. However the taste was below average and the staff didn’t have the training of who to pour the wine for first, which side of the knife should face the plate, etc. If they claim to be fine dining they need to work on that. The pianist was also banging on the piano. The atmosphere was nice though and ample parking. The toilets could be fresher and nicer too. We paid 50 pounds per head for two courses plus one cocktail which is not cheap for Brentwood.
Always fabulous food. Looks good, tastes good. Very efficient staff. Always a lovely experience Parking: Ample parking with disabled access.
Thank you! Came here for hubbys birthday lunch - food portions were great, tasted great! Staff very friendly too. 100% recommend
Lovely food and atmosphere, the only thing I was not impressed with was the Mason bruschetta starters , it was just half of a mini toasted baguette, the ones you get from sainsburys, with normal sliced tomato and a slice of melted goat cheese. The mains of steak medallion , and also duck breast was amazing. The dessert of strawberry stack shortbread was also very good.
We were part of a large Christmas party of approx 40 people last night. Whilst the starters and desserts were of reasonable quality, the pre-portioned turkey appeared to have come from a well-known off-site catering company, hence an average taste. The dishes of mixed vegetables contained 75% swede and frankly weren't well presented. To top it all, the drinks bill for the whole table, we were told, could only be split into 2 as the staff would be too busy to prepare individual bills. This meant that as guests, we had to remember our own personal drinks, find them on the given receipt, cross off once found, total, then pay. Beers, for example, were all put together on the receipt, so you had to total your consumption and do all the sums before passing the paperwork onto the next couple. Really? What a mess! So much confusion which should not have happened. We were the guests and not paid employees to do this. It was OUR night out. Our party organiser and his wife had worked so hard in getting us all together....a lovely evening, with a somewhat bitter taste. Work out if there will be a return visit.
It's always a great place to eat.Food: 5/5
Lovely dinner celebrating mums birthday with family. Our waiter Bradley was excellent, he was very polite, tentative and friendly. Great atmosphere with live pianist and lovely food.
Came to celebrate a friend’s birthday on a Friday night & didn’t have a good experience. I’m limited to eating chicken due to a medical condition & there’s only one option on the menu for chicken however all other meats & fish had 2 so I thought I would be ok to still go out to celebrate! Not the case, they had sold out of the only chicken option by 7pm Which I find personally very poor, considering it wasn’t particularly late & as they only offer one chicken option, why not have more stock for a restaurant? So basically after my friend intervened as I was offered a child’s meal of chicken goujons! Positive’s: Our waitress was very good . Safe to say I will not be returning until they revise their menu. Shame as it put a dampener on the evening.
Dropped in for an impromptu Sunday lunch and was delighted that they kindly managed to fit us in. Service was friendly and attentive, lovely roasties and tasty beef. As with most gastro pub/restaurants smaller portions are served but well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Would recommend Masons for any special occasion, or celebration meals.
Cosy atmosphere. Helpful attentive staff. Great tasty food. Good portion size. Good priceFood: 5/5
