Masons Arms
"The Masons is a Lakeland institution, an ancient inn lost in blissful country. You’re on the side of a hill with 15-mile views across a quilt of fields to Scout Scar; in summer, pub life decants onto a beautiful terrace – a sitting room in the sun – where window boxes and flowerbeds tumble with colour. The inn dates to the 16th century and is impossibly pretty. The bar is gorgeous, with low ceilings, wavy beams, flagged floors and roaring fires, then splendid local ales to quench your thirst."

We visited the Mason Arms on a recommend from a friend. We had a gorgeous home cooked Sunday lunch. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and the pub is dog friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you to the staff. I would recommend booking as the pub is very popular.
Lovely cosy escape from the weather outside. Great hospitality and delicious food. The best vegan burger we have ever had - none of that processed rubbish you often find in restaurants & pubs. Homemade, fresh, full of flavour, chunky potato chips and a pint - heaven! Thank you to the team.
Really nice pub loved my visit every time I come here. Top quality food. The ribs are amazing and I’ve never had a problem with food! Staff and waiters were all great, probably my favourite pub in the lakes. Thankyou for the great memories!
Hubby took me for a meal here for my birthday on the recommendation of a local. It was a great place, lovely food, very friendly and we really liked the open fire. Would definitely return next time we are in the Lakes.
Delicious food and great beers. A little off the beaten track, but that suits us. Proper fires, with that lovely woody aroma, more a series of snug/smaller sized rooms very cosy and traditional and dog friendly although we don't have one We've been returning here for 35 years, must say something about the place.Rooms: 5/5
Stayed & ate 01/04/23, what place, warm & welcoming, we sat by the fire! Fantastic food, great service, beautiful room, great views, lovely local walks St Anthony's is well worth the walk. A really relaxing break! Rooms: Stayed in the Cartmel Fell suite, great split level room, views over the valley & own patio. Woke in the morning to the sounds of the birds & the bleating of lambs. Truly relaxing!!! Nearby activities: Lots of great local walks all from the pub or within a 10 min drive e.g. Gummers How fir amazing views of Lake Windermere. Walkability: Fantastic walks all from the pub Food & drinks: Fantastic food & great selection of drinks. The ribs in BBQ sauce are amazing!
Absolutely stunning setting with beautiful views. Booked lunch here and the service was fantastic as was the meal. Great choice on the menu, great choice of drinks. Very friendly and welcoming pub!!Service: 5/5
Comfortable room except the next room dog barking whenever it was left alone. Great location for walking and great old pub but the food was lacking in quality and flavour, one member of the team probably needs to not work in hospitality, we won't be returning as planned later on in the year. Food & drinks: Not great to be honest, I had chicken and ham pie which had a filling that was quite mushy and the chips were dry. We had spare ribs in bbq sauce which was more like gravy and lacked flavour. It wasn't great.
We were a party of 4 1 person had a steak and ale pie which they enjoyed 3 of us had fish and chips The fish was over cooked and dry The chips were also dry. Starter of curried cauliflower tempura and lamb koftas were very nice
We stayed here for two nights and found the room comfortable, complementing the fantastic view. Both breakfast and the dinner were good, but it feels less personal now that it is part of a brewery chain
