I had bought a ticket for the Welcome 2016 Party, an event for University students which was held at Mason House last night 28.01.2016. Having received an email to arrive before eleven to avoid a long queue, I arrived a short time before. The queue gradually got a lot rowdier and after around half an hour, bouncers informed us that boys were not going to be let in, however girls would be. There was a lot of pushing and shouting, with the queue being badly managed, resulting in many people feeling ill and claustrophobic. I understand that it is difficult to manage a nightclub queue, however on this occasion I feel that the bouncers were unnecessarily violent, hitting and pushing people and aggressively removing many, particularly young men. One bouncer even confiscated a man's phone when he peacefully tried to film another bouncer admitting that they weren't letting men in. My male friend, who had behaved in a calm and peaceful manner, was violently manhandled by the bouncers, with one bouncer throwing his coat on the ground. I, along with many other people, was at the front of the queue for at least 40 minutes, yet was not let in. I assumed that the reason for this was that the club was full, however having spoken to my friend who was let in, I was told that the club was not overly busy and the majority of people inside were young girls and older men. These men, according to what I have heard, gained access to the club through bribes and membership cards and spent the evening trying to seduce young girls into sitting at their tables. I feel that this is grossly inappropriate, particularly as this was a student event. Eventually the club doors were shut completely at 1 o clock and everyone was told to go home, having paid for a ticket and having waited for two hours. This is utterly unacceptable and people should not have to put up with this from any establishment, not least one which, almost amusingly, claims to be "London's ultimate luxury nightlife destination" on its website.
Rude stuff and a ridiculous attitude when it comes to letting boys in. They of course took the £20 off the boys to enter the club and then refused to allow them into our area where we were drinking. One of the bouncers even tried to bride one of my friends saying "give me £50 and you can come in". Also if you're going with a promoter expect to be insulted and ignored unless you're spending £1000 on a table. Definitely stay away from the promoter who goes under the fake name of Max, absolute joke. First thing he said to one of my girls was "you better have heels in your bag, put them on now or you're not coming in." When we finally got into the club he just disappeared and ignored our calls when we needed help. Just would not bother going here.
At 11 pm, there was a massive line outside: not because there were a lot of people waiting to enter, because they were letting people in at a rate of one group every ten minutes. An obvious marketing ploy. We were on the guest list but were told that we had to pay a ten pound cover charge: the PR agency we were with apologised later but we were livid and immediately left. No coordination between PR and door staff. Door staff were extremely rude and only letting in tall white blonde girls. Not a club I would recommend.
I went to Movida this evening with really high expectations but was thoroughly disappointed. I saw an article about Usain Bolt visiting there earlier this year so marked it out as a place to go sometime. I was on a guest list and could see my friends at the front of the queue though being a decent person I lined up at the back instead of queue jumping. I eventually got to the front and was greeted - if you can even call it that. Even before I finished my answer the door girl - who didn't even look like she wanted to be there - proceeded to tell me she could not let me in via the guest list but that I needed to get a table. I just could not fathom why she was being like this and explained to her my group had literally gone in in front of me. She responded 'well you were one minute too late.' She then informed me that it would be in breach of their alcohol licence to let me in on the guest list and not via me buying a table. I stood aside from the queue at this point because I just had a feeling she'd put the doormen on me next. My lead friend tried to talk to the front desk but they just echoed her. The final thing I wanted to share was my shock at seeing the pimp guy or whatever you want to call him who comes out of the club scouting for pretty looking girls. As I was trying to work out whether to try and get other rejectees to split a table cost with me I was speaking with some Spanish girls who were not on a guest list or anything but wanted to get into the club. Well that guy came out of the club caught site of them and kissed them on the cheek and then whisked them in! Had I not been getting wet in the rain I maybe could have been a bit more cheerful in my review In conclusion guys, unless you are a celebrity, wealthy person or have model looks you can only hope to be treated nicely here.
I have been there with my friends for Halloween. We were on the guestlist and the promoter told us to be there after 9.30 and we will have free drinks and table. We were there at 9.45 and we stayed in the queue almost one hour and a half yes you read that right JUST so they can tell us that we can not go in. WITH NO EXPLANATION!!!!The bodyguard was incredibly rude, he said you have to go you cant go in. I did not want to leave without an explanation and after 10 minutes all he said was "the guest list is finished". I told him we were gonna pay, no problem, but we were there before they even opened the club doors so it is impossible to not be able to go in. I am never going back there and I will make sure everyone will know about this.
I had a great clubbing experience at this club. Although we had to queue up for a while but if you're already on the guestlist then you are good to go. I booked my night with Club-Bookers and one of the team member guided me through the booking and gave a good deal.
officially THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE .. this place is the definition of a bad time and rudest staff on earth. They think they own you where as in reality i can buy her and her staff. After waiting in line for 20 minutes, we reached the gate, she said its 30 pounds, we said have a reservation for 20 pounds. She said it's 20 after 11, guess what time it was ? 10;56 .. so we went back to the end of the line, waited for 45 minutes, when we got to the gate, her answer was you are not getting in cause you're dressed casually. She waited 45 minutes to tell me that in the pouring london weather. After agreeing to let me in, 15 minutes later, a bouncer comes in, drags me and my whole table out, saying you guys did not pay for the table, you are out. Oh and FYI, the club was half empty with music that my grandma would find old. This place should close and save itself the trouble of existing
Its your typically London night club. It is great during mid week but avoid this place on a Friday and Saturday night. The drinks are over priced and its only full of guys who cant chat to women to save there lives but that does make for great entertainment. The music is ok but not the best they keep switching between genres
I really enjoyed Movia, the drinks are pricey but there is a great atmosphere and lots of room to dance. If you can, I'd highly recommend sitting in VIP as the service is brilliant. Overall, a fun night.
I have been to many club in london, i score this the lowest, cause staff are very racist, most staff from east Europe, Romanian and they virtually apart from themselves do not like anyone, my girlfriend is spanish and just come from holiday so darker and they thought she is indian. On the door saying we got too many asian in so we would not let anymore. Justifying saying we want mix people !!!!
