Update. All dressed up for Christmas, see new photos Traditional village pub, busy and friendly atmosphere. If you come here for food as you should, come hungry. Good choice on the menu. Large portions, tasty, properly cooked food, good choice, chunky chips. I could go on and on about how excellent the food is, but I also want to comment on the great service we had. Attentive and polite and above all quick. Well worth a visit.
Firstly the good things, the waitresses could not have been more pleasant and helpful! Food was good, without being exceptional, but was reasonably priced and to the quality that I would expect from a good local pub, which is what the Mary Rose is. Little mix up with the phone order , but nothing disastrous and the tables needed rearranging to suit our larger number, but overall a place that I would like to revisit!
It's a nice looking little pub. And so it's a real shame that, although empty at the time, we get in and sat down then turned away because they had a lot of bookings after us and they were worried they 'might run out of food'. We were just three adults and two 2 year olds just looking for a quick lunch. Parking: It's a bit jumbled but seemed like a few spots though no guarantee of a spot if there's a big party of people there.
Thank you all at the Mary Rose today. Pre-booked carvery for 17 to celebrate daughter's 18th birthday. Staff have been accommodating from beginning to end. The meal today was excellent with everything you'd expect from a carvery, we specifically requested pigs in blankets which were brought to our tables and were delicious, as was the leek and potato gratin. The Yorkshire pudding are massive! Cannot fault the service, we weren't expecting table service, but as a larger party that's what we got. Very friendly, very cosy. Highly recommend, will definitely visit again. Thank you. Jo
The food is lovely, nice big portions so definitely worth the money. I had the buttermilk chicken burger on a toasted bun, perfectly toasted and the chicken just melts in the mouth. My friend had the chicken bulti, smooth consistency seasoned beautifully not to hot or spicy and they also do a vegetarian option. Staff are friendly and welcoming, happy to help with any requests. Overall wonderful visit and atmosphere will definitely go again
The place is nice and is a good local pub, when it gets busy it can be hard to find a seat. Would be better in the summer as have plenty of out door seating.Service: 5/5
