Cute little place in the heart of very old city. Was very busy on a Thursday night, which I think is a good sign if you are not familiar with the place. As we wanted a light meal, unfortunately we didn't try anu of the main dishes but everything that came out to our fellow dinners looked great. We had tomato and basil soup with bread, garlic mushrooms and calamari. Everything was very tasty and served fairly quick, considering that place was full. Certainly recommend to try them out and I would come back next time I visit Canterbury.
Has a dessert and a coffee I Love a Dessert and a coffee off high street in the city - and was welcomed with good spirit, as though I was spending on the full hog. I always appreciate when a sit down restaurant welcomes a pop in without prejudice. Loved the ambience and the menu looks good, so I’ll be back for sure!
Had lamb chops and potato gratin - so good. I grew up in South Africa where meat - in my opinion is the best. But this restaurant does lamb chops so well and actually reminded me of home. They were well cooked and so tasty!
Lovely little restaurant. The warm beetroot salad as a starter was delightful and lovely service. The only reason not a 5 overall was that there was quite a bit of fat on the outside of my otherwise delicious steak. Would definitely visit again and happily recommend.Food: 4/5
First we just wanted to drink a few cold colas on this very hot summer night. We also had two dogs with us. So that happened: the Staff was amazing, they brought the dogs waterbowls wirh fresh water. So we stayed and ordered breaded halloumi with salad and chips. The food was served pretty quickly and everything was delicious, especially the salad. They didn't mind the dogs and the staff was quuckly available when we wanted to order some more drinks. They have also a few tables outside. Vegetarian options: Breaded halloumi, chios, salads are also available.
I went there on a sunny day, the view is lovely with table outside and the food is great with set menu of 2 courses with reasonable price and tasty food.
Excellent from start to finish! We booked a table for 18.30 on a Friday night and were seated promptly. There was a lovely atmosphere, busy but not too loud! Service was exceptional and the food was beautiful To start we had the breaded brie which was delicious and a very generous portion. Then I had the asparagus risotto which was creamy and full of flavour. For dessert we had the cake with maple sauce and strawberries with ice cream. The sauce was DIVINE. it was our first time at Marlowe's and, as locals, we will definitely be returning and recommending to friends
Evening menu with a great price and excellent food. The sauce in the seabass was spectacular, I missed some bread or even a spoon! Not a big portion so if you normally eat a big quantity, maybe it's better to choose another options.
Excellent food and excellent service. Both waitresses worked well as a team. Very pleasant. Service was friendly and prompt without being too quick. Atmosphere great, well positioned to people watch down the high street. Good value for excellent food. Will be going back again.
If I could give more stars I would. I just had my wedding on Wednesday and this place was amazing! The owner's, the manager's, the waitresses, and the Christmas decorations, everyone and everything was fantastic and very accommodating to everything I asked for especially since things were planned a bit last minute. Food was also amazing and for the price of the set menu, 20 pounds for 3 courses is seriously underselling their skills. Everyone had a great time and I genuinely can't thank this place enough for making my wedding dinner perfect. I will be returning here whenever I'm in Canterbury and need good food to eat.
