A lovely flying visit before getting train home, we had to be quick as we entered an hour before closing, they were very accommodating though. Fabulous little museum with lots of things to touch and do for children. The boat, carriage and dressing up was especially a lovely touch. So much to look at another reason why I would love to go back and read up a little bit more. Lovely museum that sits on the river Lune. Thank you for your hospitality.
Excellent Maritime museum. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable and suggested watching the film show in the Warehouse first. This was a great idea to get background on the area and history of the site. Great exhibits, especially the art exhibition of the local fishing industry. Well worth a visit.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Really interesting place with plenty to see and learn. Kids under 16 are free, adults only £3 so was a bargain to visit. Parking easy to rear of museum.
This place is a little gem. The staff are so lovely and welcoming. There is so much history to Morecambe and Lancaster never knew any if it. There are 4 flights of stairs as it starts at the top with lots in information for those who can't manage or don't fancy the stairs there's a lift. They have model guys there ...they don't need feeding, or breaks .
What a fascinating museum! Really well laid out, with friendly staff and a café for light snacks too. There were plenty of activities for children tooVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
What a great place this is! Something for every age with displays of local fishing industries, shipwrecks, trade and much more. Well thought out and informative. It was half term when we visited, so many children were there and all seemed to be enjoying their visit. We certainly enjoyed ours. We also appreciated the disabled parking bay right outside the door.
What a lovely experience I had at the maritime museum. It's laid out really well inside with loads of interactive areas and some really in depth knowledge on not just local history but broader maratime history too. It was super informative and a hell of a lot of fun! The staff were fabulous and helpful and going round you can see a lot of effort and thought has been put into each exhibit to cater for everyone who would like to visit. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would love to visit again. It's priced fabulously too so it's a perfect trip on a budget. All round brilliant visit - all in all I ended up spending around 2.5 hours here. Well worth the trip to Lancaster.
A great little museum, cheap to enter and free for local residents. We spent about an hour here, and the exhibits were interesting and varied. Good to see that they are in the process of providing more context to the slave trade information boards. I will definitely visit again
We arrived and surprised that we had to pay as we thought all museums were free but not council run museums. We paid and said that we would start by visiting the coffee shop only to be told it was shut due to lack of staff. Very disappointed as we checked the website before we started out and it stated cafe was open. Explained this at the reception and she said she would like her boss know. Before we could get a lift to the floor to start our visit there was a member of staff there to greet us and to open the cafe so we could have a drink and a bite to eat. THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND MUCH APPRECIATED. A very interesting museums and walk around for several hours. Just wish these websites would keep up to date. Staff very helpful and pleasant Thank you again Pete
I learned a lot about the local maritime history in this very well played out museum. There are lots of interactive activities that improve the ability to remember details of what is learned here. The very impressive models of oil drilling platforms, the walk through canal boat, and many other displays were educational for all of us who visited. Ages in our visiting party ranged from 5 to 65 years. We all had a great time. Oh, be sure to stop in at the tea shop after climbing the stairs to the top floor. You can take a lift if you'd rather. But the stairway even offers some interesting info as well as good views of the river Lune
