Maplin

Knew about how difficult it would be to return stuff at Maplin but still ordered and paid online for a "brand new" air cooler at Edmonton Ravenside because all other places have sold out. Asked specially about terms and conditions of returning it on collection and was told as long as I don't open it, there will be no problem returning it. Kept the air cooler in the car boot for four days because I've ordered air conditioner at another place, took it straight back to the same place for a refund, surprise surprise, on arrival before the store manager Mr S even looked at the unit, he started being very suspicious and rude, treated me like a liar, open the box, told me it is not in original packing and took out a piece of plastic in the box, accuse me of having used it despite the fact that there was no other evidence whatsoever! E.g there will be water marks on the any air cooler if it has been used! It turns out that the air cooler has already been opened before it was sold to me! The whole fuss took more than 20 minutes I was treated like a liar with no dignity, this was the the worst customer service I've ever experienced, I would never order from Maplin again!

Maplin tend to be much more expensive than online for cables etc but they do have some bargains eg 100 AA high energy batteries for £15. I use Maplin for when I need something today and for that reason I use them quite often. The last time I visited (yesterday) it was quite empty of customers but the few that were there caused delays at the till. It's a good sized shop with a wide range of electronic equipment. The musical/disco equipment aims more towards home use. Good selection of children's ride in electric cars.

Good selection of electronic Components if you know what you're looking for otherwise you may find yourself coming unstuck when looking for singular replacement components
