Very sad to see them closing. I have been using Maplin since they were mail order with one store 30+ years ago and then took over a lot of the Tandy stores. 

The quality and staff knowledge, helpful attitude and customer service has always been 1st class (unlike PC World - Yuck!!). Lost their way a bit on price (big mark up over distribution) and too many toys and niche gadgets. 

Should have stuck to their core businesses. Should have ditched the marketing and product management group!! 

People don't mind paying £5 over the odds on a £30 product as delivery is normally around this figure but sometimes nearly double the online price is not going to get people buying. I guess the overheads of shopping centre locations took it's toll here. 

I hope Maplin revives as an online/mail order company again with it's exceptional customer service and with lower prices.

Really sad to see Maplins closing. Staff are always helpful.  People have said products expensive but they are top quality.  You pay for what you get.

Great little shop that seems to have everything. Maybe a little more expensive than buying online but a quick visit will get you what you need straight away.
