I visited this shop today to buy horsefield tortoise. Wide range of pets available. Lots of staff all busy cleaning the different enclosures. Staff were very friendly, and wasn't rushed into making a decision which baby tortoise I wanted. I had telephoned the shop the day before to enquire about the tortoises they had for sale. I was asked to provide proof of my tortoise set up before I would be sold a tortoise, which I personally think was a reasonable and responsible thing to ask. Having done my research and got everything set up before I bought a tortoise it didn't bother me. The tortoise I got is amazing, and has been eating and exploring all day, and isn't frightened at all of having his shell or head stroked. I would recommend anyone to pay this shop a visit. They are responsible sellers, and all their animals looked well cared for . I travelled over an hour to get there, but well worth it
Although this store was a significant drive for me it was certainly worth the trip. I intended to purchase a Pacman frog and they had everything I needed and more! Also the staff are very knowledgeable, Jane helped me with everything I needed and gave some great advise about the care of the amphibian. I have everything set up and it looks great! This place is a hidden gem 5/5
Dubious advice given re Hermanns tortoise. Was told to feed it veg inc sweet potato, carrot and courgette etc. This is totally wrong advice - see the ‘Tortoise Table’ website for good info on feeding them weeds, clover, certain flowers. They should not eat fruit or veg. Concerned for all the tortoises left in the shop that are being fed incorrectly. Our tortoise was also riddled with worms when we got it home and the manager female was quite bristly on the phone when we called about it. Initially tried disputing that we had got it from their shop, and when I asked whether I should be worried about worm transfer to my children, her snappy response was, “not unless they’re planning on eating it’s poo”
This store is just WOW!! Absolutely amazing place, lay out & selection is mega. Theming throughout is spectacular, by far the best pet shop I have been in. Staff are very helpful once you ask for help. Bought my son a little baby Leopard Gecko for his birthday. Will 100% recommend this place and will be returning soon. Thank you
Wow what a pet shop! Never seen a place where the standards of care are so high! The birds where all in massive spacious cages, not little tiny ones. They stock a huge range of everything for every pet. We came in looking for things for our new axolotl, the guy one the fish counter I didn’t catch his name was very knowledgeable and helpful and so friendly. Came away happy with everything that we needed. We even met Hercules the shop tortoise and fed him! Well worth the travelling that we did :
Great pet shop very helpful staff
Tried shopping here for my aquarium a few times to support an independent business. The general pets all have decent sized cages and staff are helpful enough. However my fish is experience has been bad. Of the six guppies I bought three were dead within a week. Persevered and restarted tank weeks later when i bought new filter and some plants for my fish tank from here. They came with snail eggs/larvae. I'm 100% certain. Obviously I didn't know at the point of purchase but ever since I have been battling to get rid of the little critters as they have taken over the tank. Never had this issue before from any other shop bought plant. The stress and efforts of trying to fix it has put me right off buying anything at all ever again from this place. I've gone back to pets at home to avoid this careless enterprise and won't return.
Good shop, wrong staff… me and my partner first walk in with the idea of getting two small pets to which we did, and i ask one of the staff can we buy the two female pets and instantly got turned down in a rude manor by a woman and told me i’m not selling them to you because they would only have one left. Then someone else said come back wednesday we’ll have more… First of all we came far to come to the shop i even rang that morning to ask if they had them in stock and said yes and didn’t tell me otherwise. Why advertise that you’re selling this certain pet and then continue to deny a new customer… if somethings labelled for sale and it says so and it doesn’t say otherwise then it’s for sale end off you don’t turn people down. anyway i spoke to someone else a man to which he gave them to me and we bought them. Little did we know one of these pets came injured and we wasn’t told in anyway and obviously we had no clue to what was wrong with her, we still didn’t know a few days later… but the fact that this place knew this pet was injured and clearly wasn’t treated is wrong, and it goes to show because the way this person grabbed this animal out of their enclosure was horrible and to rough for the small pet. We are treating this injury our selves hoping it gets better but the experience in the shop wasn’t fun, full of rude people and people telling white lies it’s stupid. Don’t have something for sale that shows a price and turn me down, or anyone if it’s listed we have a legal right to buy this item at that price. Needs new management this place
Bought a hamster the day after boxing day for our youngest 3 weeks later it died. I phoned about a replacement, got told to ring back to speak to the manager, which I did but got told he was busy so I left my number for him to call me. Never got a call back, very poor customer service
I’ve heard nothing but bad things about this place. We’ve bought pets from this place that have sadly passed away not long after and a quick google search correlates that we’re not the only people this has happened to; there’s numerous reports. I know people that have worked with the people here and they tell me about the containment and conditions for animals in the back of the store and it’s AWFUL. Place should be shut down. I’m opening a case with the council soon that probably won’t go anywhere but there’s plenty of reports that corroborate this and there’s now a protection for animals in these sort of conditions called Lucy’s Law. Unfortunately it only protects kittens and puppies and not birds and reptiles. Please DO NOT shop here and please contact Manchester Council and GMP to prompt them to investigate!
