Had a great time looking around the Christmas markets on their first night of opening. Lots of great products to see and buy. We enjoyed sampling the cakes and drinks which we did buy some. I was surprised to see that the people came out on such a horrible wet day. The atmosphere was friendly and happy people all around us. Amazing. I Wish the stall holders all the very best. I recommend that you have a pint or 2 in the German bar too.
Not very impressed. Expected one large Christmas village staying open till late night. We ended up walking through Piccadilly gardens where there were no seating areas available to went pub to eat and then hotel by 10pm
We had a wonderful experience walking around the Christmas markets spread across Manchester's city centre. Walking around with a warm cup of mulled wine from one market area to another. Delicious garlic potatoes or variety of bratwurst were being offered to the hungry shoppers, sweet treats like pancakes, nougats etc are also available if one wants to have a 3 course dinner on foot.
Awesome... Wonderful Christmas market with lots of stalls..always busy..nice lightings and crowd.. variety of stalls with food, drinks and lots of other things..stretched across Piccadilly gardens, market street, king street, cathedral gardens, st.peters square, exchange square, corn exchange and exchange street
Great afternoon out if you want to buy gifts that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. Very busy and the food and drinks can be very overpriced. The stalls and atmosphere is amazing.
Good atmosphere, shed loads of people, with the smell of German hotdogs everywhere you turn. There's plenty of food, drink and unusual things to get from these little wooden huts that seem to be along every other street here - but all these come at a price, which you would expect for this time of year at any Christmas market. Things like £7 to £10 for a hotdog, £4 for a pork pie and that's a bite size pie lol, £6 for a pint of beer and £6 for a small lump of cheese is about the norm. On the plus side, there are loads of stalls, there's the usual shops as well, good for parking, good for public transport and there's more here than the likes of Chester for example. All in all, not a bad way to spend a day out shopping, drinking, eatting, while at the same time soaking up some pre Christmas spirit.
It was relatively quiet on late Wednesday afternoon, so a relaxed atmosphere & all seemed relaxed & friendly- stall holders & other shoppers. It was great to see the metal sculptures stall again- one of my favourites. There were a lot more handmade & unique jewellery stalls this year I thought & wished I could afford to buy a lot more! We arrived late afternoon to see dusk & the lights at night & the stall areas did look really pretty & there were amazing aromas coming from the various food stalls selling allsorts from different countries. Lots of sweet treats & cakes from abroad too. A great place to go to find more quirky & original gifts, beautifully crafted. Didn't realise till too late though should have researched earlier that the usual stalls at Town Hall from Afflecks etc had been moved to Picadilly area & we ran out of time to go then so missed one of our favourite parts ‍ . Perhaps some signs around the market areas to advise of that would have been good for those not able/didn't think to check the website so we could have factored that in earlier. But we still had a lovely time, a mulled wine & it felt very xmassy!
My first visit in years, that I've waited to go along, always working...such a buzz, lot's of people, lot's of food varieties to choose from, then desserts, boozy hot chocolate, beers! I was stuffed, guzzler hot mulled wine, beer, gin, after our food bbq pulled pork/stuffing bap, samosas, choc orange brownie....had a lovely walk round the market stalls & was surprised at the vast amount of variety on offer. I was in my element when I found a Fudge stall, be rude not to buy a bag of pick n mix ur own! I can't wait till bext years 2022!
We visited from Harrogate and enjoyed the market, mainly it’s just fun to take a day and stroll around while also visiting the shops surrounding the stalls. Of course it’s mostly food but I’m not really big into buying tchotchkes when visiting these markets anyway. The mulled cider was nice but we didn’t really enjoy the churros. The lines were also incredibly long for some of the places I really wanted to get food from, particularly The Porky Pig, so I didn’t get to try some of the more popular food and service at stalls can be quite slow sometimes so waiting with two littles wasn’t going to happen.
It is the most festive place! The decorations, the shops and the atmosphere make you want to dance and sing happily and jollily. I have few recommendations for you: In front of Selfridges try: 1- The Dutch Fries recommend Parmesan and Truffle - you’ll get addicted. 2- Dutch Pancakes try it with white chocolate they are so flufffffft! 3- from the Mulled winery in front of the Dutch pancakes, try the Non-alcoholic Ginger and Orange mulled drink. ——- Moving away from food, let’s focus on arts and nice gift ideas: 1- facing Selfridges, go to the shop where the beautiful vests and ponchos are made. 2- in the next square, on the left side of M&S, go to Metal Arts Productions; for sci-fi fans! In the same square, 3- go to the store where you can find Book Clocks ⏰! Pretty classy and vintage. 4- also go and see the mechanical pocket watches 5- Go to the jewelry store and buy beautiful necklaces. I got a heart-shaped one. Finally, in the same square, try the massive hotdog . And now you’ve reached the best parts of the market note: hotdogs can be found in front of Selfridges, between m&s and Harvey N+ hot chocolate is literally served everywhere! In Piccadilly Gardens, you’ll find mostly drinks. I find it too busy and isn’t family friendly as the other squares. But if you want to take beautiful pictures, go there! And yes, if you’re not familiar with the area, facing the National Football museum, there’s a skiing area go there and have fun ! Finally, go to Printworks and take beautiful pictures around the beautiful lightings!
