Manchester Crown Court gave a Pe do, who was trying to do stuff with a 12 week old baby, 80 months in jail not in the general population. That charge should at the very least be life. What a joke.
Brilliant place ! Made sure everyone around me had no weapons or anything to harm me with, escorting me throughout this whole experience. Offering me cosy accommodation before introducing me to a funny man in a wig. They seemed to know a lot about me so I knew I was in safe hands. Shortly after the man in the wig offered me free accommodation and 3 meals a day ! I was lost for words, I didn’t know what to say. As if that wasn’t kind enough I even got my own personal private transport there ! When I arrived I was stunned to see i was also given a free gym membership along with a bag full of new items and toiletries ! Overall a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to see you all again :
Just completed my duty as a jury.Found this place n all staff, especially the usher are v helpful n friend. I am so so happy to be selected as a jury despite there is no wages at all it is only being citizens duty.THANK YOU ALL.
considering how many people the security staff and ushers have to deal with I do not feel envious about their jobs esp now during the pandemic. however, perhaps in the effort to save on wages I find majority of the staff on the 'ground floor' are not only poorly trained but also show manners that are not worthy of these cathedrals of justice. I am not old fashioned here I was just brought up properly. The security people in their majority come across as uneducated folk with very little English and no sense fro professional code of conduct, my experience with the ushers was limited as I come to court as a forensic expert and am thus in majority of the cases treated with unexpected respect. however, there are. number of operational issues, esp in the cleaning and security department which goes for all courts. As a witness or a random member of public I would not feel safe, or welcomed or secure in these premises.
This court has seen a bit of a make-over of late, with the addition of largely unused new courtrooms for the overflow of magistrates work which never materialised. Sadly, the cash machine, Coke machine and the like have all gone now. There is a canteen part of the Whittington's brand - part of Compass for members of the public and for legal professionals but it is expensive, produces little actual food and is not significantly used except for coffee. This is something of a common theme in court canteens these days. The building itself is fairing reasonably well and is kept clean. The courts are modern but all but a couple lack any natural light, which makes them migraine-inducing if you are to be there for a while. The staff are friendly and will help as much as they can and this court has all of the usual facilities for those with specific access or usage requirements. For the main Crown Court of the second or third most important legal centre in the UK, a little investment would have been nice to make good what was there rather than to build unnecessary sections but there is little chance of that now. The nearest parking is on Bridge Street though it is very expensive. Looking to the other side of the bridge, you will find cheaper options. The nearest coffee is from Waitrose and one is free per day if you have a Waitrose card but most of the eateries nearby are expensive. If you get stuck and want something cheap but substantial, go to nearby Essy's. It is in St Mary's Parsonage some 50 yards away.
Fastest way to get a free council house.
