What a gorgeous restaurant with friendly staff. Beautifully decorated inside with balloons and flowers. We visited for afternoon tea but there's a separate menu with other choices. Food was fresh and tasted good. Couldn't eat it all but that's no problem they gave us little takeaway boxes. And I loved the deserts. Who doesn't like sparkly strawberries . I much preferred this over Betty's. Great atmosphere, would highly recommend you try this out. I'll definitely be back again. My daughter would love it here. Something special for a birthday with a group of friends.

Always a pleasure to visit.  If I'm wanting to impress or just a coffee and cake this is the place.   The decorations both inside and out are amazing.  Looking forward to seeing the decorations for 'C'  shh.... They are able to accommodate both wheelchairs or prams!  Best to book just to make sure of a suitable table.  Wheelchair accessibility: No problem with wheelchairs but best to ring beforehand to save embarrassment on either side.   Always been a pleasure

Went here for my mum and dad's 50th wedding and anniversary wow what a treat a amazing selection selection of sandwiches and cakes.All freshly prepared and beautifully presented.The tea room is beautiful and the staff were very attentive all in all a fantastic experience can't wait to visit again.  Dietary restrictions: Catered for one of our party who had a strawberry allergy.

We had an amazing time having afternoon tea today! We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and showed us to our tables. We loved the ambience and the cuteness of the tearoom! There were plenty of choice if you didn’t want afternoon tea, plus they had vegan and gluten free options too. Our afternoon tea arrived quite quickly and the presentation was beautiful and inviting! We savoured every mouthful and enjoyed someone’s work in the preparation! We also went to the cake counter afterwards and purchased 6 cupcakes to take home! Will definitely return again soon!!

Absolutely amazing afternoon tea at Mama Doreen’s! Service was brilliant as soon as we arrived to the moment we left. One of our party required a gluten free option and their sandwiches and cakes were some of the best they had tasted. A massive thank you for going the extra mile with the birthday cupcake. Highly recommended and we will be back.

I booked for my Daughters birthday which l stated on my booking , when we arrived we were shown to our table then completely ignored for over 15 minutes in the end l had to ask a passing waitress if we could order . We were brought our hot drinks but had to wait another half hour for our afternoon tea . The food was lovely but the service was not up to the standard l had expected, after we had eaten l had to go and find a waitress so we could pay our bill . I informed the waitress that l had booked this for my daughters birthday but got no response, l could understand if they were busy but they weren’t

All staff were nice and friendly, and quite a pleasant cosy atmosphere which was nice. Service was quite quick, and the tea’s were nice with some delicate flavours. We decided to have afternoon tea, and it was presented nicely, and couldn’t fault it much. Just one or two bits of it wasn’t to our taste, but that’s more us than product quality. We’d go again, and certainly get a good range of deserts with it! All well priced too

I don't think there is enough stars to rate this company. I brought my parents into have afternoon tea and the staff went above and beyond to help. My mum has kidney failure as well as alot of other medical issues and they spent time making sure everything on the afternoon tea was safe for my mum. They even made it possible for my dad to have sandwiches that he likes. Nothing was to much. I cannot say thank you enough for making my mums birthday special. I know I will be bringing them back as soon as my mum is well enough. Thank you again for all your help in making it a special day.

My husband and I visited Harrogate for the first time last week.  The weather was atrocious but what a lovely town!  We hadn't booked anywhere to eat, thinking we could just grab a snack somewhere but then we passed Mama Doreen's and couldn't resist going in as it looked very enticing.  Plus, a very quick scan of their website and menu had our mouths watering.  The place was packed!  Indeed, the rear part of the restaurant was hosting a private party.  However, they could squeeze us in, and boy were we glad they did.  Right from the get-go the staff were very lovely.  They were all very friendly, and so helpful and attentive.  As our time was limited we opted for a cake selection plate and a meringue the size of which I have never seen before, but it caught my eye on the way passed the cake cabinet.  Tables are beautifully laid out with mismatched vintage china plates/cups/saucers and the atmosphere as a whole was great.  I can honestly say the cakes were to die for.  The owner advised they were all made inhouse and you can definitely taste that 'home baked' quality. We say a huge number of afternoon tea selections getting served and they all looked delicious, in fact, we were gutted to not have the time to experience one.  If you are looking for a fabulous afternoon tea, a slice of cake or a lovely lunch in Harrogate this is the place to visit.  Yum!  Our daughter is about to start university in Leeds so, finger's crossed, this will give us an excuse to return to Mama Doreen's.
