I visited the shop today and was very impressed with the selection of fish and products. The staff were very helpful and friendly and I felt the customer service was above and beyond. Well done Maidenhead keep up the good work!

Terrible customer service I have just visited your store in Huntingdon wyvale. I had travelled quite a way and when I got to the till it came to £41.48. I gave my credit card and the assistant said the internet was slow after a while he went to check and came back and apologized it wasn't working. He asked if I had cash I only had £40.70 oh well he said sorry I can't complete the sale. I was 78p short had travelled miles and couldn't buy what I came all that way for so I asked to speak to the manger. There was a guy in the floor fixing something with another guy, they both raised their eyebrows at each other and one guy said I'm the manager. I explained the problem (even though he was on the floor by the till and had heard what was going on) there is not anything I can do about modern technology, he said and went to carry on with what he had been doing. That's not good enough I said I've come miles I am short less than a pound is that the right attitude a bit of customer service wouldn't go amiss. He looked at the young boy on the till and begrudgingly said just Knock a pound off . Thank you I said a bit of customer service goes a long way. He then looked at me and said he did say sorry I think he has given you customer service. I said the assistant was fine it was he as a manager that had no customer service skills, he was quite prepared for me to walk out of that shop after coming here specifically, and wasting both time and fuel it was me who suggested knocking off 70p not him. At that incredibly he blew up snatched my goods from me, no he said you're not having them and refused to serve me any more. I have never ever come across such childish unprofessional behaviour from someone who is supposed to be a manager. Key point - if a customer has come some way to spend money in your store, and in this day and age you are unable to process a card payment i.e. No back up Paypal other store facilities, then have the decency to treat them as a customer and not as something on the bottom of your shoe.

I have been using this garden center since 2003 for fish both pond and tropical without a problem , some times when it was busy ie weekend and bank holidays delays were to be expected its a large display area to cover. When Maidenhead took over I was tempted to try Marine fish because of their brilliant colours a big learning curve for me. Despite me being 70 years old the staff were extremely understanding being asked elementary questions now a year later this advice has paid off. more so now I have 5 different tanks 3 Marine and 2 Tropical breeding Bronze Cory's Sam has made a big improvement in the time he has managed it , all the staff know their stuff and give you confidence in their suggestions . Worth traveling the extra mile for.
