This was such a fun experience. Tea was great, food was amazing, and the hospitality was top notch. They did a wonderful job catering to our gluten free needs, which can be tough to find at times. In addition it was my wife's birthday so they surprised here with a piece of chocolate cake, gluten free of course. The little things like the drink me potion and the pre tea drink were two thumbs up!! Anyone looking for a fun afternoon tea experience, I highly recommend the Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea at Sanderson London!
I enjoyed my experience greatly. We made reservations on Wednesday at noon and it just turned out that the menu had been rotated. We took the regular tea menu, having chosen the Mad Hatter and white rabbit tea. The tea had a very subtle flavor but got stronger the longer you let it sit. All the items were delicious, except for the red velvet which was abnormally bitter. They also have refillable sandwiches and tea, so by the end we were stuffed. For £55, I'm quite happy with the amount. The service was also great and I appreciate when the waiter brought out the food, he also explained every item while crouching down to keep eye contact.
I haven't seen the Instagram reel that made my girlfriend want to try Mad Hatters Afternoon tea, but I bet, whoever was behind it, has a real knack for marketing. The whole experience was "just okay". There is an Alice in Wonderland tea set, a selection of sandwiches, and enough sweets to give you diabetes. Other than this, it is just a normal restaurant. So if you're into sweets and or expect nothing special for a lot of money then this is definitely a good choice. We paid £140, for two people. The £16.80 service charge was included in the bill. You can not order one tea set for two people, so you have to pay the package deal per person. Cheapest is £55, and the non-alcoholic glass of champagne is £14. Alcoholic is in the £20s. Overall, there are better teas out there folk. Don't trust everything that's on instagram.
My 10 year old daughter and I had the pleasure of having the Mad Hatter Tea at the Sanderson this afternoon. Truly exceptional experience! I did a lot of research prior to our trip about the best places for a child-friendly tea in the area. I’m so glad we picked this one! Our server, Lay, was absolutely phenomenal and he did a wonderful job creating an atmosphere of fun- and also was very engaging and kind! The selection of tea is vast and varied, and each was delightful. The whimsical touches throughout the meal were our favorite parts! They even included an adorable gift bag for my daughter The tea sandwiches, and sweets were exceptional! We are already planning our next outing here for the next time we find ourselves in London. Thank you Sanderson for a memorable day in London!
This was such a cute way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Everything was perfectly themed, down to the “drink me” bottles of peach bubble tea. The savory sandwiches were delicious and very filling, and the sweets were pretty and still tasty! My husband was sure he would still be hungry when we left, but we both had to leave a few things half eaten which was just a shame, because they were so good!
First time experiencing the Alice in Wonderland Afternoon Tea, it was a very pleasant experience. We really enjoyed it because the service was immaculate! Fantastic atmosphere and wonderful staff on hand. We had a great time!!! We had one vegan menu and one normal, I did not expect much for the vegan menu but it was surprisingly not bad at all! Would definitely recommend, it was so much fun :
We had a great time! It was an experience full of surprises. I’m glad we found this and were able to attend before our flight out of London. Go hungry! There’s a lot to eat in one sitting. And the take-away bags were adorable.Food: 4/5
This place was awesome. Pros: super nice and accommodating and helped me every time I called with a question or two. Went for my sister’s 18th birthday before we flew back to the states. We drink maybe seven pots of tea just between us and had a party of six people, the unlimited tea is amazing, so are the gf scones. Tea was well made and delicious options. Cons: the food wasn’t terribly delicious. We got the gluten free and vegetarian version and the gluten free bread for the sandwiches just wasn’t amazing. The scones were 10/10 yummy. The desserts weren’t very tasty either, just odd flavors. I suppose they fit with the mad hatters theme though! Biggest con is that it was extremely expensive for what it is. Price would be much more manageable with a party of two or three, but it was about $400 for our party of six and only five of us got tea, so really for a party of five. Super fun experience though and I’m motivated to put more effort into my own tea times. Thank you very much to all the staff. My sister got to have a memorable and joyful birthday thanks to you. The service was amazing. Nice place and vibe. The savory sandwiches were amazing and the presentation made it to another level. For sure it a nice experience great to redo ot again even it kind of pricey.
The entire experience was absolutely fantastic! It felt like a high end upscale tea without such a hefty price tag. The Alice in Wonderland theme and plating was tastefully done and all the cakes were delectable little delights. Our server Lay was incredibly helpful and charming and even sang me happy birthday— in two different octaves, no less. Five stars all around!
