Had a nice lunch here with my colleagues Friday. I had two pies and mash. The pies were ok, traditional and good pastry. The mash was decent too.nnService was great and they did well considering how busy it got.nnGood vibe in there and it’s also one of few remaining places where you can get liquor or jellied eels etc.nnWould go again
A culinary institution in London. A must try and visit at least once! I love the pies, mash and jellied eels here with all my heart The people are very genuine and lovely too
Been here many times. Twice recently with my brothers. We are all Pie and Mash fans and this place does not disappoint. It's the real deal in terms of the delicious authentic food, the genuine historic surroundings and the friendly staff. Long may it remain! Can't recommend highly enough.
Ok I guess, I found the pies very bland and the liquor sauce quite tasteless, the cold drink was lukewarm and seats are also a bit uncomfortable. Sorry to sound too critical but that's my experience, I guess it's popular for it's heritage and because it's a quite cheap quick filling meal but I didn't like it at all and I won't repeat I am afraid
It was off the beaten track, but was on the bucket list so the walk was worth it. What a place, genuinely, WHAT A PLACE. The staff are fantastic, knowing I was a pie and mash virgin, they explained the etiquette to eating pie and mash. I also ordered a freshly made sarsaparilla as nobody in the north seems to make it anymore, and when you do get it, it's sparkling, and nobody wants that!nAnyway, the food, fabulous! Great mash, the liquor needs the vinegar to bring out the glorious flavours and the pies are just beautiful. I'm not sure who the blonde lady working there was but she kept checking in on us to make sure we were ok and the food was good, thanks. nnIf you haven't already realised. Loved it. Get on it if you're in London.
