Here at Lotus Vegetarian Kitchen, we offer a wide range of dishes cooked with mock meats, fresh vegetables and fresh mushrooms.

Story

Welcome to Lotus Vegetarian Kitchen!

We are very excited to introduce to you our first Chinese vegetarian restaurant in Manchester. Lotus Vegetarian Kitchen is an independent family business and we have been in the catering industry for over 20 years.

With a passion for food we moved to England from Hong Kong in the early 1980’s hoping to introduce the taste from home to more people around the world. Over the years we have opened a few successful non-vegetarian Chinese restaurants and take-ways across Manchester, however we felt that it was time to move on and pursue our new dream.

My wife and I have been vegetarians for many years and we strongly believe in a healthy diet and lifestyle. Having travelled abroad to places such as Hong Kong, Canada and Taiwan, we visited many vegetarian restaurants and were inspired by the creativity of the dishes. We want to share some of our favourite home vegetarian recipes and newly created dishes to even more people in the UK, so we decided to open Lotus Vegetarian Kitchen.

At our restaurant we have a no-smoking and no-drinking policy as we hope our customers enjoy our food in a comfortable, warm and relaxing atmosphere.

Impressive well crafted Chinese vegan dishes. Our photos were after initially tasting, that’s why empty places. It’s very difficult to make the dumpling pastry vegan and retain the correct texture for the dumplings and dim sum. Congrats to the chef. Flavours excellent and service very polite, friendly. Portion sizes are good and filling. We ordered 8 items between 2 adult, 1 child, we were very full and satisfied.
This is my favourite place ever, have tried every single item on the menu in the past couple of years. Food is vegetarian/vegan and there is absolutely no compromise in terms of taste. Bao buns are my absolute must haves. Presentation is excellent and so is the service. The jasmine tea is sublime. Highly recommend!

Second visit to Lotus. What a fantastic restaurant with an enormous, delicious menu! Definitely in a league of its own. The service is impeccable and the food is to die for. So much variety and so many different flavours which is such a rarity in a plant based restaurant. I highly highly recommend this restaurant. Clean, great service, wonderful food and lovely presentation. Mouth is watering writing this review!
The food was all delicious, we had the skewer combo sharing platter, BBQ rice bowl, Peking "ribs", and thick noodles with "beef". It was very well priced and good portion sizes for 2 people. The menu had loads of choice, will definitely be going back to try more things! The service was fantastic, so friendly and attentive.
Excellent tasting food, definitely going back. Every item cooked well, great choices of dim sum and many of your Chinese favourites, all vegan of course, and without onions and garlic.
Whole experience was unbelievable. The waiters were so welcoming, caring & attentive. This place is a beacon of light. Each dish was amazing, food was made with so much love & care. Authentic, filling but also sits really well in you. Some Chinese food can be over oily & leave you heavy. Can also tell the chefs really care. Food & restaurant filled with amazing energy. Amazing value & generous portions. Tables are big & place is spacious. You feel like you can have a private time with your partner. We need more places like this. Namaste to the whole team. I am visiting the UK from the US and was worried finding vegan options would be difficult. This place is one of many that caught my eye, and I think everyone should give it a try! The inside is fairly small, which is something I like, as it won't be overcrowded or loud. It's very cute and clean. The employees are very friendly, attentive, and helpful at explaining the menu if you've never been. Something that's hard for me to find in the US is vegan Asian dishes so when I saw this place I was worried the food wouldn't be great or there wouldn't be many options but the ENTIRE menu is vegan and the food was absolutely fantastic, I'll be going again before I leave. I ordered jasmine tea, bao buns duck is something I miss a lot from before I was vegan and the texture and flavor of this hit the spot and was similar to actual duck buns I had in the past, caramel tofu, and pi pa tofu. The textures and flavors are fantastic!
OMG I cannot praise this place enough. Amazing vegan Chinese food. So tasty. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Very clean and toilets very clean too. The Dim Sum and Tofu dishes are to die for. And the Crispy Wontons are the best I have EVER tried. Even my partner who is a meat eater really enjoyed the food and he is VERY hard to please. We will be back for sure. Loved it Vegetarian options: Fully vegan. Dietary restrictions: Vegan and have GF options too. Parking: Right outside.
As a non-vegan I can't recommend this place enough. It's really exceptionally delicious food. We ordered LOTS but everything that we had was really delicious and we will certainly be returning soon. They make all the meat substitutes in house and they are off the charts delicious and flavoursome. 1000% recommend the chili beef! They have a ground floor which is wheelchair accessible and we where seated upstairs with our small baby which had a very relaxed atmosphere. The staff where very friendly lovely people. It's a BYOB establishment with an off licence right next door. It's well priced and won't break the bank! I'd recommend this regardless of if you're a vegan or not. It's just good, delicious food.
